First thing to do is to find your electrical panel box. You will have fuses or breakers. Locate the one that is associated with your range. If you have fuses it will be at least a 30 amp. If it is dark in the glass viewer, change it out with a new one. If you have breakers, find the correct one by the list that the installing electrician wrote on the inside of the panel box cover lid. Once located move the breaker switch to the right very firmly. Then flip the switch back to the left, you will hear a definate sound to indicate that you have switched the breaker on. If the switch stays in place and is not thrown back to the middle or right, go turn your oven on. If it threw the switch you have a short of some kind, I recommend calling an electrician or an appliance repairman at that point.

Thanks for using FixYa. There is an over-temperature switch built into the electrical panel of the oven. Resetting this switch might solve the issue.

To reset it: Turn off the power. Open the door (if door is locked, turn the power back on and gently try pulling the door every few seconds as the locking mechanism cycles until it is unlocked). Remove the 3 screws below the control panel (screws point upwards, with the head just inside the oven). Pull off the face of the control panel. Let it dangle by the wires so that you have access to the space behind it.

Within the electrical enclosure exposed by removing the control panel, look for a small silver and black device with 2 wires attached to the back. The device is about .5" wide by 1" long and is attached with 2 screws to the sheet metal on the bottom of the electrical enclosure.

OK... I know this sounds odd and all... but all of the components (elements in the oven specifically) have to be installed and working correctly for the oven to operate properly.

Most people don't know this, but even when the oven is turned off and sitting there peacefully waiting for something to cook, there is STILL 120 Volts at one of the terminals on the element. Know what that means? That means that it is constantly (always) powered up! It also means that it is a necessary component involved in applying 220 volts to all the OTHER (cook top burners anyone?) components.

So... to take care of this and to bring you oven (and cook top) back to life, ya gotta go get yourself a new element and install it. OK?

then check your voltage if you have 220 at the out let (and don't assume you do check it!) if you have 220 there pull the back cover off the cord and see if the cord is loose or burned . but before you pull the range out in this situation turn off the breaker for safety in case the cord has burned out all theese componts are on separate circuit's and only thing that will stop them all is a power problem of some kind if you dont find nothing turn the breaker back on and try the range again if the cord is burned this is caused by improper tightening of the cord during instalation and there is no fault in the range install new cord properly and it will be fine

Question edited for clarity and toss in a load of CAPS! It is a gas appliance and must only be worked on by a gas certified technician. The same thing happened to my Hotpoint cooker and they replaced it. It happened to the replacement product also. Now they don't want to speak to me. DO NOT BUY HOTPOINT/ whirlpool products. They are very unprofessional . Please don't buy their products. You will regret it

I would suspect a damaged thermostat control.

Before you replaced the element, were you using the self cleaning cycle?
