When I turn on the oven, the display goes to PrE (preheat mode) but the oven does not heat up. The ceramic igniters are cold, there is no smell or sound of gas. I hear a relay click in the control panel when I press Start. It is also dead in Broil mode: no gas, cold igniter. The range top works properly, so there is gas and electric. I could not find a schematic. Thank you in advance for your help.
even if the ingitor glows, and the oven wont lite, the odds are that the ingitor is bad. it must draw 3.2 amps to open the gas valve. the only way to test the ignitor is with an amp probe. replacing the ingnitor is about 90% a sure thing.

The flames in my new Hotpoint RGB745 LP Oven are extremely high shooting up the sides of the oven. We have changed the setting from Natural to LP and it goes up the sides for both settings. We have tried following the directions in the manual but it doesn't seem to be working. HELP!! Thanks.
Did you change the orifice in the regulator? The orifice opening for LP is a different diameter than the opening for Natural Gas. If you've already attempted changing the settings from Natural to LP, you may want to double check the orifice under the regulator cap, or...you may have a regulator problem. You will need to turn the gas off prior to attempting this. The regulator will be located in the back of the oven somewhere near where the gas line connects to the stove. There is a gas orifice that needs to be turned over to change gas settings. "LP" should be present if it is set correctly. Let me know if this helps.

I tired to preheat my oven and nothing came on...didn't smell any gas either..
However, the stovetop burners function as normal..what am I supposed to be looking for in order to try and resolve this problem on my own without calling for professional help (if not needed). I looked at the ignitor and it looked old and black...
Please help?!
Most common problem is a bad oven ignitor. If yours looks this way then it should be replaced. This will most likely solve your problem.

I've seen some notes about how the oven ignitor should be observed for the "glow" and/or tested for amperage to see if it's bad. The owner's manual suggested that the oven gas shutoff valve mey have been somehow turned off. It includes a small diagram of the valve and it points to the far right corner of the oven surface under the cooktop. Maybe I'm confused, but I see no such animal in that vicinity, even with the cooktop removed.
The manual says it's for models RGB744 and RGB745. I'd like to know the specific model number, but have no idea where it is. It's not obvious on the unit.
I'd like to at least get the baker working.
Advice? Thank you,
Gary Suddeth ([email protected])
It's troublesome, thought, that the broiler won't fire either. Is that not another ignitor/burner? I can't imagine both ignitors failing at the same time. All the cooktop burners are fine.
What I really need is a diagram or something that would show me how to get to and expose a given part.
Have you run the self-cleaning feature recently? I had a similar problem on my stove of the same model, and it was the switch that detects whether the oven latch is engaged (if it gets stuck and thinks the latch is locked, it will not ignite the main burner or broiler). An easy way to check if that's the problem: without touching the latch, turn the controls to Clean. If the burner lights, that is your trouble.

Eeek, a mouse! And it appears to have been under the cooktop beneath the sealed burners. How can I lift the cooktop panel to clean the panel underneath, between the cooktop and oven? The manual is NO help. Thank you in advance!

My Hotpoint gas oven won't keep its temperature. I turn it on to say 400, it preheats, beeps, I put food in, and then the heat seems to shut off, or drop down to say 150. If I turn the oven off, then on again, it heats up, then eventually drops in temp again. What's with that?
The temperature sensor in the oven needs replacing. It is located in the back wall of the oven. About 3 inches long, metal and about the size of a thin pencil.

have new hotpoint gas stove from lowes, currently have acess to propane only, is there a switch that converts to propane or do i need an orifice and can you tell me where they go. thank you so much for any help
Hi,
Hotpoint supplies the orifices and instructions with each range for converting. It is just that it is hidden, they attach it to the gas regulator. The regulator is near the bottom back typically. Here is a cut out from your use and care manual.
CONVERTING TO LP GAS (or converting
back to natural gas from LP)
This range leaves the factory set for use with natural
gas. If you want to convert to LP gas, the conversion
must be performed by a qualified LP gas installer.
The conversion instructions and LP orifices can be found
attached to the range next to the pressure regulator.
Keep these instructions and the orifices in case you want
to convert back to natural gas.

I am wondering how I'm supposed to light the pilot on a Hotpoint stove. I think I'm supposed to lift up the cooktop, but I can't get to lift up. It feels like its locked/screwed down somehow but I can't tell where it would be. The exact model is RGB745WEA7WW.
Your range uses electronic ignition, not pilot lights. For surface burners the igniter sparks when the gas valve is turned to the "light" position. All burners should spark when any gas valve is in the light position. For the oven the ignitor is also electric but does not spark but rather heats up or glows. What is the problem with your range?

put a plug on it that has ground.
"bad line" error means the control panel is not seeing a proper voltage to the oven. Have the power connections checked with a voltmeter all the way to the control panel. If voltage is present, you may need a new control.
