Well, there are one of two things wrong. It is either the connector for the zoom switch has worn down (most likely) or it is a software issue. Unfortunately, the PC105 is very old and you can not pair it with a remote. Personally, I would just send it to sony. It might actually cost more to fix than to get a new camera unless you have a warranty, so you might want to consider getting a newer camera. Hope this helps.

Common problem with this camera, the codes reflect reel sensor errors. The first thing to check for is when you open the cassette assy look inside to the right is there a black rubber kinda tall wheel like roller? The pinch rollers are known to fall off of their posts in this model. If the pinch roller is there then the mechanism needs to be replaced. Hope this helps. email me for service if needed.

Does it have c31:23 in the corner as well? or some kind of number like that and it beeps too? It is a problem with a rubber bushing on the inside. Mine had the same yellow triangle and was beeping. This is what I did to fix it. The instructions are in japanese but it is pretty easy to follow. He uses a drinking straw for the tube. My camcorder has been broke for months and this fix it perfectly.

This is usually an indication of digital dropout. Try using a cleaning tape to clean the heads. If that fails to resolve the problem, have the unit cleaned professionally.

If you want to use the USB cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer to transfer the video to the Computer then:

(Applicable for Vista Operating System Only.)

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer. The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port. (An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type of cable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. The Sony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer has the 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pin i.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer.

Option 1:

Using the NightShot:

1. First Set the POWER Switch to Camera, Slide NIGHTSHOT to ON.

2. The NIGHTSHOT indicators flash on the screen.

3. To cancel the NightShot mode, Slide NIGHTSHOT to OFF.


Option 2:

1. Let us try to reset the Camcorder and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

2. Locate the RESET button behind the LCD screen of the Camcorder.

3. The Camcorder should be switched ON when you reset the unit. Press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.

NOTE: Resetting the Camcorder will reset the settings of the Camcorder to the factory settings including date and time. It will not delete any data saved in the Camcorder.

In order to connect your camcorder to your computer, and download your pictures or videos, you have to install the drivers for your camcorder and windows Operating system before you connect your comcorder to your computer. Here are the steps in sequence to install the drivers.

1- Use the CD which came with your camcorder and install the drivers.
2- After installing the drivers, Connect your camcorder to your PC and turn the dial to play (Turn on the comcorder if not on).

Follow the screen until it says ready.

3- Now click start, then computer. You should see several icons with one of them having all or part of Sony DCR-TRV16E Mini DV Camcorder. If you double click on that icon, you would see one or more folders with your stored pictures and videos. Now you can download, copy delete all of them.

If it were worth repairing, as a Sony agent, I would replace all of the capacitors and clean up the board then reset the mechanism and test. Probably too old being 2001 vintage.
