Nothing comes through to my viewfinder.

If pictures are coming through to your screen, then the ribbon cable to the viewfinder has probably broken( they are quite brittle with age on this model). Can you see if it's broken when you hinge the viewfinder up? Replacement of the ribbon cable is the only viable option.

I have a DVL510 Camcorder.

Hi.

On this model you need to use a firewire connector. If your computer does not have firewire port, you will need to get an adapter.

Follow the instructions at page 68 of the manual.

I have a JVC GR-DVL510

Yes this can be done. You can do it with a DV/firewire connection you would just need to purchase a firewire card for your laptop if it doesn't have a firewire port.
http://www.jvc.ca/en/consumer/downloadmanual.asp?f=86640ien.pdf If you refer to the manual at this link it lists the different ways you can transfer from the camera. there are many cheap devices out there for capturing video.
http://www.infotechnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=3115&s=froogle
here is an example. DV/firewire will give you the highest quality. If you have any other questions let me know.
Thanks,
lee

Why won't my digital camera charge via USB anymore?

Take camera and its battery to a camera outlet, ask them to check the built-in rechargeable battery. Most outlets will help you with this, as its likely that if the battery has failed, you'll buy a replacement from the same dealer.

Not used my vid cam for a long time but when played back some tapes played great. The following day I tried playback on the tapes & they all showed a blue screen. No images What am I doing wrong?

not sure on this one but it might be the heads in your vid cam may need cleaning. or the tapes are not running straight on the heads or the rollers in side. if the vid cam has been in a cold place it can cause this fault as the heads may have a bit of damp. try putting a tape in and run it fast forword in play mode and see if starts to clear the playhead.if it does keep doing it until you see a clear picture. this could also be a head misalignment fault if it is you will have to take it to some one to have a look at. if any of the above does not work then you will have to take to some one to look at it. .
