How do i get video
You will use the DV (firewire) jack on your camcorder. It is located on the back of the camcorder under the door for the battery. Depending on what type of connector your computer has, you will need to get a firewire cable (also known as IEEE-1394a cable). The connector on your camcorder is a 4-pin connector. You will either have that same looking connector on your computer (some laptops now have the 4-pin connector) or a 6-pin connector (D shaped).
This pic is of a 4-pin to 6-pin cable. These are available at many electronic stores and online. To be safe, have your camcorder powered off when connecting to the computer. Once you have connected the cables, turn your camcorder on and insert the tape that you would like to transfer. Your computer should recognize it and install the appropriate driver. Most computers have some sort of free video editing program (like Windows Movie Maker). Depending on the software, you may have the option to import the entire video tape or only parts.
Hope this has helped you.

Replacing the flat cable to the window is not easy nor suggested as a DIY repair. I would suggest that this unit be repaired by an Authorized Sony repair center. Sony has a fixed cost repair program for problems like this. Included in that repair would be a verification to factory spec for the tape mechanism as well. Please seek professional assistance for this repair.

Hi,
Judging by the cameras response the battery may be low on charge. Try removing the battery (there usually is a button close to where the battery is inserted) and charging it overnight. If it still does not work the battery pack may be dead or worn out. You may need to get a new one as batteries gradually loose their capacity overtime and eventually die.
If the battery is a Ni-Cd or Ni-MH you can attempt to revive it by charging it fully, then discharging it by running the camera, and repeat this cycle many times.

I dropped my camera. where can I send it to be
Check the Sony site directly and send it to the location suggested by your own location. These cameras are only repaired at the regional level. The repair should qualify under the "fixed cost" program. The cost may seem a bit high, but without an estimate, there is no way to determine the extent of hte damage. The repair cost includes the replacement of internal boards should the replacement cost be less than the repair cost. I can't provide more info as I don't know your location.
Hope this helps a bit,
