My camera did the same....it turned out to be a sticking zoom switch. With the camera turned OFF... move the zoom button ON TOP ( above the view finder) of the camera to the left and right about 20 or 30 times... then turn the camera on and try it.... very simple... but it worked for me :o)

Hi! The problem will be on the mic itself. You will need to have it replaced for it is not performing well. ONce the mic is replaced a high audio sensitivity will be noticeable. You'll be good after the replacement. Hope this helps and thank you for using FIxYa!

I am sorry to hear that you're having this problem with your JVC, it is really a good camera. A possible problem in your camera is the harness that connects the lens can come loose and the camera looses its feedback from the lens position sensor. The lens does not know what position it's in so it defaults to its startup position. I would refer the service to a qualified service tech, there are many items that can be damaged in this camera if it is disassembled incorrectly.
Good luck my friend.
