How do I transfer vidoes onto pc with a firewire
Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card.
Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other.

Your PC must have an analog input in order to accept that kind of signal - they are RCA connections. If you don't have the inputs you can purchase an analog to USB adapter.

This Sony code in your camera is telling you the video heads are dirty, buy or put a cleaning tape in the camera and press play for around 30 seconds, if problem is not resolved use tape cleaner for 30 more sec, that is all it is I assure you.

you will need a firewire cable (ieee 1394).
you will also need a firewire port on your laptop. if you don't have one the you can buy a firewire pci card.

Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty.
It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Well, for the most part, yes. The analog capture card will allow you to connect the camera to the computer for transfer. You could use something along the line of
this card, but you could also use a
USB Capture device if your system is fast enough - if not, a PCI or even PCI-x card would be better. The last piece of the puzzle would be capturing software in order to make the actual video file itself - both of the links above include some basic software, but you'll need something more along the lines of Adobe Premiere Elements or iMovie (mac) if you want to do any actual editing of the movie.

i read in a forum somewhere that ppl were having the same issue and their solution was a solid smack on all four sides and everyone who tried it reported success.

your needs repair in mechanism..Fault given is undetected reel motor rotation .This can be caused by a bad captan motor ,pinch roller bad or bad LS chassis ribbon from upper cassette mechanism.If unit has old type (B) mechanism ,there is a good change LS chassis ribbon is bad .When cassette is inserted and pushed into mech .The latch for LS chassis wears down ribbon and causing a sensor fault ..

The best thing you can do now is to take it to a specialist and get them to do the repairs. Camcorders have a lot of electronics in them and can be easily damaged if your a not an experienced repairer. You might also have to consider that this camcorder might not be repairable.
