Is it Sony DCR-TRV460E camcorder or some other model. Seems it is bad CCD Imager problem in your camcorder.

No i dont think so, if you hook it up to the computer with a USB cable I think all it will do is show the videos you have on it.

I recently had the same problem. All I did was buy a Head Cleaner, followed the instructions, and now my camera works fine. It only cost me A$12 and I bought it from a shop specialising in digital video cameras. I hope this helps.

Hello, you should contact Sony Service again. There is a chance that this camera is under so called Sony recall. If you need more info please advice.

Dear sir, If u seeing image properly ( Blur image ). In main board or sub board some components will be leakage. This leakage will form, if the camera not use for a long time. If the image is not clear then the CCD may be defective. For CCD failure SONY company will give u free service & spares for this camera model. If it were worth repairing, as a Sony agent, I would replace all of the capacitors and clean up the board then reset the mechanism and test. Probably too old being 2001 vintage.

The best thing you can do now is to take it to a specialist and get them to do the repairs. Camcorders have a lot of electronics in them and can be easily damaged if your a not an experienced repairer. You might also have to consider that this camcorder might not be repairable.

The record / playback heads probably need cleaning, using a compatible cleaning tape. Failing that, it is either damaged or broken.

TRV260 nail-polish head attack: eek. Acetone is a powerful solvent capable of dissolving plastic parts, plastic gears, housing and insulation. Besides that, it leaves a residue of microscopic crystals which have probably contaminated the highly-polished metal head drum. Not to mention gumming up the bushes and bearings. With your next camera, rather use a head-cleaner DV-tape.

Memory stick could be fubar. I have a bad sd card that I can record to and will work. Then a few days later the data is corrupted, and I have to reinstall it / same pattern. Try another stick to verify that it is the stick and not the camera electronics.
