If my JVC-GRHD1 won't record on an SD card which type of card do I need?

This camcorder will use SD cards. However it will not use SDHC cards such as your 16GB Lexar card. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Just bought a used JVC

This camera can not use an SD card of that size. Just like with any computer intergraded hardware, they have to write parameters of that day into the operating system of the device. They can not just leave it "open ended" to allow any size that might be available in the future. I believe the maximum is 1GB of standard SD speed (as in not the max of ultra speeds). 1GB would be more than enough at the resolution this camera will store still frames (it can not store video on SD cards). This is from personal experience with my own GR-HD1U.

How do you get the JVC GR HD1 to upload in hd on a

This can be done through the fire wire port (mini firewire400 on the cam to what ever firewire size port is on your computer) to and any video editing software that can handle HD codecs. Inside the editing software there will be a way to import video from a camera. This part of the program will control the start and stop of the camera via the firewire (ie you do not push buttons on the camera). It will start the tape and record into the PC. You can choose to compress the video to a bunch of different formats to make it more manageable. The owners manual spells it out pretty good. If you can't find it let me know and I might still have a web link to one.

I cant get my JVC GR-HD1US camcorder which records

Did you ever get this to work? I have the same camera (but on a Mac). On a Mac you have to set the capture to the correct setting (ie. the way it was recorded on camera). The frames per second and resolution have to match. When on DV setting the camera converts the video to DV standard and all consumer editing programs can import that with ease (almost no user setup). I'm sure you have the right switches and settings on the camera (being that you own this and most likely know how to use it). Those setting should be in your manual. If you can not set the capture setting in the editing programs then you will need a more powerful editing program.

Power Button Came Off

Hopefully this is not a duplicate post as I lost the previose post I spent so long writing when I hit Post Solution.
I had the same issue with mine and finally lost the button. I could not find a way to get it to stay in (and I'm very good a figuring things out like that). I'm pretty sure something broke and left no sign.
I called JVC when it happened back in 2007 but there was no recall on this. The tech I talked to could not find the part and told me it was not available. Two years later I decided to try again and this time talked to a tech lady that was very open about how and what she was looking at to find the part. When she could not find it, she emailed me a parts diagram (exploded view) of every component set that makes up the camera. Turns out that the switch is not mentioned anywhere in the parts list that correlates with the diagrams because it;s part of an assembly that has do be replaced as a whole. This is more info to back up my thinking that the switch can not be put back in place once it pops out. After we both looked at it for a while I found it as the exploded view is not showing that portion of the handle in full view. I forget the name of the assembly but I think it said something like Power(rec?) board IDK. Either way it sounded more of an internal thing but that was it. I will be ordering this part this year so I will have to dig up all that info again. The process to replace this switch assembly is very complex and requires that the handle/tape housing be removed from the camera. Then it all has to be taken apart with tons of micro screws and small parts. No unsoldering that I could see (most every mini board disconnects with mini plugs. Let me know if you want more info once I order this part. I think it was around $150 but I hope it is still available.

JVC Gr HD1 power/record button fell off and tape stuck inside

I have a solution posted on replacing the button in another Question but as far as your question; If you still have the button you can pop it back in (push in and hold tight) and move it to the position to turn it on. Once it's on you don't have to hold it in to keep the camera on. Only switching it to the off position will turn it off. Let me know if you lost the button and I can give you a work around for that (even if you still have the button and are jamming it in there but it's not working my workaround could help).

Why won't my digital camera charge via USB anymore?

Take camera and its battery to a camera outlet, ask them to check the built-in rechargeable battery. Most outlets will help you with this, as its likely that if the battery has failed, you'll buy a replacement from the same dealer.

Not used my vid cam for a long time but when played back some tapes played great. The following day I tried playback on the tapes & they all showed a blue screen. No images What am I doing wrong?

not sure on this one but it might be the heads in your vid cam may need cleaning. or the tapes are not running straight on the heads or the rollers in side. if the vid cam has been in a cold place it can cause this fault as the heads may have a bit of damp. try putting a tape in and run it fast forword in play mode and see if starts to clear the playhead.if it does keep doing it until you see a clear picture. this could also be a head misalignment fault if it is you will have to take it to some one to have a look at. if any of the above does not work then you will have to take to some one to look at it. .
