Hi, well I suspect that you will also need to install a "Driver" for the units too, make sure that the drivers are written for your operating system too or they will/may not work. So see if there are indeed drivers for the ilink, install then and see how you go? Using the A/V cables should give you a great picture, and should work fine? Ir's really the software that determines the quality anyway? but you should be able to do well with just the A/V, and good software.

Hello Marcel Beaulieu,
This is a common problem among these types of digital camcorders. It has to do with small components within the camera that get displaced a little. Though, sometimes doing a hard power reset (removing the battery for a few minutes) sometimes fixes the issue for a short period of time a more popular but unusual solution would be to:
- Remove the battery,
- Tap the opposite side of the tape deck with a solid rubber object (e.g. rubber mallet/ball)
- Repeat, if necessary, until the problem is fixed
To avoid this problem again you have to avoid removing the tape from the camera and utilize a PC, VCR, or DVD recorder to save your recordings. If have any questions or concerns regarding this unusual method of solving your problem please feel free to contact me at

You should not need additional drivers.
Digital-8 cameras will have a firewire port on them.
Connect with a firewire cable to the computer and open Windows Movie Maker for PCs or iMovie for Macs.
Using another movie editing application if you have one will also work.
Treat the Digital-8 camera as a non-controllable device, that means you will most likely have to start the camera manually to capture.
Make sure the camera is in VCR/playback mode not record.

Anyone know the moisture sensor
The Dew sensor is an electronic component deep within the tape mechanism and is not accessable without completely disassembling the camera. This job is better left to a committed technician.
