hope yours is not an overseas model.japan made and meant for japanese market at times doesn't have an english language option setting.but lets try to find out and see if this helps.open the lcd panel.touch p-menu (located at the bottom right corner of the lcd screen).then touch menu.(first boxed item at the upper right hand of the screen)..you should see a circle w/icons on it and an up and down arrows at the top and bottom of it.use the arrows to move up or down the menu items.go highlight the icon that has a clock and a globe.now press ok (located at the bootom right side of the screen)it should give you 3 items.last one item is for the language settings.highlight it and press ok again.now,this last part you might need to select one setting at a time (don't forget to press ok once you selected a setting) until you come up w/the english language option. hope this serves you.goodluck.

hi, DV cams, doesn't install, it is normally directly recognised as firewire cam (if what you want is to capture the recordings or live), you have to set in your capture program the right device... now, if what you want is to use the hard disk function (memory stick) you have to light up the camera and then plug it in usb port, windows will recognize it as thumb drive (externat card reader )

i have i want to tranfer my video record programme to my computer, but nor show

USB will only download still photos or movie shorts stored on a card. eg memory stick.
If no card is in the camera then no connection.
If you wish to capture movies stored on the tape, you will require a firewire cable to connect.
Use iMovie to capture the footage or another Mac application like Final Cut if availble on your Mac.

the flexwire of the camera at the bottom of the mechanical assembly is already cut..it is need to repair that flexwire or replace the mechanical assembly to sony service center....

As you said tape rec tab is not locked yet camcorder says tape is locked.
That means its record protection switch is On for some reason, basically its lever that got stuck/ pressed and need to be pulled up.
Eject tape and check right corner towards you, record switch is located there. Check that lever while tape door is open and look inside that area that is marked in below image that will help you to locate its position, pull its lever upward to release it and insert tape and record.
It is not easy work so be careful not to damage any thing in mechanism.

Had the same problem. It's ainternal flex wire connecting LCD with camcorder. Got from the repair shop did it by miself and it's like knew. It's very common in sony. Good luck

This would be highly technical. Not sure of your expertise but since its the main part of a handycam would suggest to either go for a new handycm or get an expert to do it for you.

Remove ALL electrolytic caps. Very carefully inspect underneath caps for trace damage. If there is, install a jumper (esp. under 47uf caps. This will fix your problem. Carefull with this camera, I will not hardly fix them anymore due to main pcb and sensor pcb damage from electrolite. Replace all grip caps and evf will work.

Yeah ! Your problem is very simple. u can solve it on your own.
If you dont put the tape the comparment closes well and as soon as you pot the tape the compartment does not close , Right ?
The solution is there within ur hands itself.
If you want the compartment to be closed, then simply dont put the tape inside. let it be outside itself. U see, its so easy !
