Hi, what Windows have you got on PC? no drivers made for Win Vista or Win 7.

I do not know of a book, though lots of websites are available to tell and show everything on this subject.

Can you hear sound from the camera? if so and you use windows XP/Vista/Win 7 then if you go to all programs, look down the list of programs on the PC, you will see Make DVD Movies, all the software your going to need in there free to use, even burn your DVD labels.

I'm having the same problem. I plan to tape some footage today and view on the PC to see if it's just the LCD or the camcorder causing the issue. If it's just the LCD, I think I can live with it until I can the HDD models come down in price.

The screen is defective or the cable that connects the screen with the board seems to be loose soldering it may resolve the issue.

To "See" your DVD you MUST get the "Codec" that the DVD is "Written" in. This must be installed on the PC, before it will "See" the format. So get the relevant CODEC, download and install, then you will be able to play your DVD. Also, see if formatting it first in the PC, and then inserting into recorder will work, some do some don't, but it's worth a try first, get those CODEC's or try writing the DVD, in some other format, that Windows will recognize? If possible.

Unfortunately there is no fix for that. The blank screen problem is common on this model. You can try by changing the flex cable of the LCD screen, or worst, an IC that is associated with delivering power to the backlight (if your LCD may still touch sensitive).

The problem is usually due to the camcorder constantly expose in medium to high heat condition. The IC has blown therefore resulted on the issue. Avoid putting the camera/camcorder in the car under hot weather.
