Press one of the buttons on the monitor to activate the OSD (On Screen Display). Wait about a minute -- the OSD probably will cancel itself, if you've pushed the correct button.
Then, use the other "left/right" or "up/down" buttons to navigate through the various settings (contrast, brightness, et cetera) until you get to the "language" setting. Press the "accept" button to select it.
Press "left/right" or "up/down" until 'English' is displayed. Press the "accept" button to choose that language. Then, wait a few minutes, for the OSD to "self-cancel".
Hi. Update drivers for Ubuntu?
There's probably no need as long as the aspect ratio is set to your liking:
System > Preferences > Display
However, if you need a better experience in Ubuntu, you might consider looking into your video card. There are some proprietary drivers out there, notably Nvidia, which are also free to download and use, though you'll never get the source code.

You will have to check the inverter transformer for open winding on the secondary side (common failure mode for the inverter ransformer), you can also have bad lamps due to bad soldering works on the end of the lamps. The transistors driving the inverter transformer check out OK out off the circuits?
See these pictures here for guide:

I will assume that you have measured the DC voltage feeding the inverter circuits and it is OK (about 12~18VDC).
Post some pictures will help.
LG monitor
I would suggest updating both your video drivers and vidoe player codecs if it still does not work it is most likely a hardware issue
When I turn my PC on the
This may be due to your Windows operating System.
1. You may need to clear some "temp folders"
2. LCD screen don't usually lock the operation unless there is a conflict with the video card.
3. check the video card settings to see if you don't have something check that will cause a halt to the system.
4. You will need to look at the instruction manual for something you missed in the set for your LCD or video card.
When I turn my computer on the monitor stays off.
the monitor is not getting any video information from your computer .. check the connection at the computer to make sure it is fully plugged in .. make sure the video card (if it has one) is securely in place ... make sure the monitor is actually plugged into the right connector .. you may have a bad video card or a damaged cable to your monitor .. you can plug the monitor into another computer to make sure its ok ..
Stretched monitor? I have a 19 inch LG and it
Hello Rbeaudoin, Hi! the stretch thing is caused due to improper computer configuration, you need to load the VGA device driver for your PC. A properly setup device driver for your VGA will produce a resolution properly for your monitor.
explanation,
you see, without the device driver, windows assumes several resolutions, most of the time, this does not match the monitor resolution, so the device driver when loaded, talks to your monitor, and identifies it, then sends the proper resolution info to the VGA and windows, so that windows can create an option for that resolution. using this proper resolution the monitor can display the video properly.
Blue verticle line is displayin
The blue line is most likely the result of your monitor's screen going bad. One thing you can try is disconnecting and re-connecting your video cables to make sure it's tight and has a good connection. This probably won't help, but it's worth a try. You may also want to connect the monitor to another computer to see if the blue line stays, or goes. If the blue line stays with another computer connected, the problem is inside the monitor. If the line goes away, you should replace/repair your computer's video card and/or cable. Otherwise, you need to replace/repair your LG monitor.
My main home computer whener turned on goes to analog powersaving
LG does not show the 1750 monitor on their web site. It did show some discontinued monitors including a 1752, but there was no information available about them.
Another LG site said to use the far right bottom to auto adjust....for another monitor.
My HP has four buttons, MENU, <, >, and Return (also AUTO). Menu opens the monitor dialog box, with the arrow bottoms shifting through the menu. Select an item with return, then arrow to your selection, menu is also your exit button.
You may have a power saving selection here.
Also check the control panel for the POWER OPTIONS properties. A power scheme selection here will also change the mode of your monitor.
good luck
