Northgate 17" LCD Tilt Screen Innovations Monitor Questions & Answers
The computer monitor viewing screen
have you made sure the video cable is plugged into the screen and the back of the computer correctly. You could also try a new video cable, because the problem may be that the wires inside the video cable have frayed. If that doesn't fix the problem you could try using a different monitor and see if you can replicate the same problem with a different monitor, if you can, the computer may have a problem with the graphics card. If you can't replicate the problem with a different monitor, it seems as though your northgate innovations monitor has developed an internal fault, if the monitor is within warranty try and get a free repair or get it replaced (if you have the receipt.
Hi, I have a monitor
Hi There and Welcome to Fixya,
The first thing you should do is to check if the pins in your VGA cable connector (from the monitor) and make sure if they are
"complete and straight" - no bent or missing pins etc. It would be best if you have another PC or Laptop to try your monitor display out so you can determine which is really the problem.
In case you experience the same issue after trying the display out from another PC, then it is evident that there's a need to replace your LCD monitor. Now, if it's the other way around, then it's quite possible that you can resolve this by :
- Reseating/replacing your video card (if you have one)
- Updating your video display driver
- Reinstalling your Operating system.
- If it's onboard video, then I would suggest to purchase a video card compatible with your motherboard as oppose to replacing the entire board which is much more expensive.
I hope this helps,
Thank you for using Fixya.

Try changing the CMOS battery, and see if the problems go away.

Sparks from back of computer
Please don't turn it back on. Unplug your computer from the wall and examine the wall socket for blackened or burned sections. It is likely that dust has caused a short in your computer. Sadly, most times this means that you are going to need a new computer or at the very least, some new parts. Take it to a reputable computer repair shop near you and have them test the power supply and other components to see what is salvageable of your computer. With any luck, your hard drive contents MAY have survived but there is no guarantee.

40drhol can I erase and reuse a good hardrive, I have the recovery cd and the otherboard cd. hanks Rich
"40drhol"? If you are re-installing the OS, when you re-install it will ask if you want to format. If the HDD is not the Primary HDD in your computer. a spare HDD, If the HDD is compatible with your computer interface you can install as a slave/second/primary, depending on the interface/pin outs, or load a different OS on it if you wish and have a Dual-Boot. If it's a second drive in your computer, Open Start Menu, Computer, Select the HDD, just right click and format ,select File System.

Connecting hp photo smart 7350 printer to northgate computer
Hello,You need to install the driver of your printer that works with the operating system of your northgate computer. The driver is in the CD/DVD that came with your printer. After installing everything, you can add RadarSync to your computer to optimize your computer's driver (eg. keeping them updated to avoid from some problems, and running automatic updates so that you can avoid from the headaches of doing the updates manually). I hope this helps. If you need more info, please let me know.Carlo

No Sound on Nothgage I-1
You may have to use the XP drivers . there may not be drivers developed yet for the Windows 7.
The manufacturer is the one who supplies compatible drivers to run with the operating system.

I have a northgate protek
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press delete to enter setup
Press and hold delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart then
once you have your computer running try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive then you might test all leads that are attached from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) or just replace them there probably old and faulty
hope this helps

Have no sound.
Does this problem came all of a sudden? Do you hear sounds before? Check the icon with the speaker (or something like this) at the lower right end of the taskbar. Is it marked as forbidden? Click on it and enable sounds.
In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.
Thanks and regards

I have a Northgate laptop 755110. I upgraded the
Some laptop keyboards have small "tabs" on the edge closest to the LCD screen, and those tabs fit "under" something metal,
in order to hold the keyboard in-place. Gently "work" that area, to get those tabs to move "above" (instead of "under"), to release the keyboard.

Power chord shows green light but computer will
First you need to check the power output of the power supply. Check the supply to tell you the output voltage and match that to the reading on a volt meter. This will give you the basic check for power.
If there is the corect voltage from the psu, keep it unplugged from the computer. Next remove the battery from the unit and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. This will clear all power from the unit and reset the power management. Plug the unit in without the battery and try to boot. Not many systems anymore require the battery to be in to boot. If this does not boot then put the battery in and give it a try.
If the unit does not boot, unplug and take a small pen and see if the power socket moves at all. If it does, it needs to be resoldered or replaced if the center pin (if one exists) moves on its own.
If the system turns on with or without the battery just for a moment then goes off, there is mostlikely a problem with the psu not having the ability to work under load. what this means is that the psu can output the correct voltage but once a load (the pc) is applied, the psu does out. This means the transformer it bad and you need a new power cord.
Without the model of the computer, this is what can be done without a service person physically looking at it.

Laptop cuts off during operation and when I
Hi
Thank you for your query
Please do the following steps to narrow the problem down
1) Switch on the laptop
2) Once switched there may be a meeage that says press del or F12 to enter setup, if not try the del key or F12
3) This will being you into the bios screen, once in there let the laptop run, if the laptop keeps cutting out in tis mode, you will have a overheating issue
If it is overheating then try cleaning out the vent where the hot air comes out from, if that doesnt looked block then it looks like the Heat sink (the fan that cools the CPU down) is faulty and will need to replaced.
If however it does not cut out then you have a sftware issue and i would recommned a clean install
Hope this helps

A person has locked my
Sounds like someone tapered with your computer while you weren't looking lol
You may need to perform a system restore to get control back.
You can restore the system by placing your windows CD in the CDROM drive normaly drive D:
Restart the computer
Go to your BIOS
Make sure the boot sequence is set to
1st Boot Device - CDROM D:
2nd Boot Device - Primary HardDrive C:
3ed Boot Device - Floppy A:
Or CDROM,C,A
then save and exit
restart the computer
you should see ( Windows is now starting your computer )
and the install process will begin.
once windows is installed and you've put your key in
you should go to the windows update site to download ALL critical updates and service packs
Then you'll want to load driver software for your computer,

My monitor for my Northgate
Most any monitor should work on your system. The only real limitations are the display capability of your video card. Most video cards will display up to a 22 inch monitor without any problem. Here are a couple suggestions
