make sure your camera is set to an advanced mode, not an easy mode, and open up the menu. Search the wrench or settings options, or memory card if it has that, and look for the word format. It'll be in there somewhere.

Samsungs software (DVC Media) is not compatible with vista and their latest version is not available to most countries.

I use Vista and how I download is as follows:
1) Install DVC driver from disk (Ignore request to install media player). It can say error but I found it still worked.
2) Plug in a firewire (IEEE) cable to your camera and PC then use a authoring package to capture footage. I use adobe premier elements but can use a number of others.
