Acer AL1912 19" LCD Monitor - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Trying to run monitor from my lap top and goes in
In general more info is required, but most likely this is an issue with your display settings. Try the following:
1) Try pressing the Fn and Display buttons (at the same time) on your laptop. Try it once, twice, and then a 3rd time.
Chances are that your laptop is displaying in a resolution that is not completely compatible with your monitor, so when the display settings are switched from laptop LCD and montor, to monitor only, the resolution should adjust automatically.
2) If that doesn't help you, try lowering or adjusting the resolution on your laptop. If in XP, right-click on the desktop and go to Properties, and select the tab for display settings and adjust it. If in Vista/7, right-click the desktop and select Screen Resolution/Display Settings and adjust it there.
Good luck. Let us know what happens!

LCD Monitor Shadow Effect
This problem is best described as the LCD monitor "Shadow Effect".
The solution to this very simple. No software or hard ware changes required.
The cables that are connected to the LCD monitors are causing the problem. Its also called as electromagnetic noise or electrical noise.
Solution: Keep the two cables - (power cable and moitor display cable), that are connected to the LCD monitor as far away as possible with each other and also away from other electrical cables.
Thats it. Your shadow effect is fixed.
Thank you.
The backlight flickers when first started up.
Hello,
I would check the capacitors on the power supply board first. This is the most common problem with LCD monitor after a year or two of service. Open the back and look for bulging capacitors, replace any that you find and you should be back going again. Check our web site at:
www.ccl-la.com/capacitors.htm for pictures and information about this common problem. If you need to get parts or have over questions let us know at

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Acer AL1912 19" LCD Monitor goes black after power up
With the screen connected to the pc (which is running and putting out a signal) hold a bright light to the front of the lcd - a led flashlight works well. Do you see an image? If so then circuitry driving the inverter backlights may be at fault. I had this happen with a Dell Flat Screen, and found one of a pair of transistors which drives the backlight had developed a short.

HI,
You have increase the resolution, to enable viewing all the content in single page without slidebar..
Screen resolution is down to personal preference, and will depend on the size and capability of your monitor/display.
The best way to find the perfect resolution to suit you and your monitor is to experiment, follow the guide below to change your screen resolution
Fow windows XP:
First right-click on the desktop and then left click on Properties from the menu that appears.
The display properties dialogue box will appear, click on the settings tab at the top right of the box(Windows XP).
This slide bar is what you use to change the resolution, the options you have will depend on your graphics card and monitor, but the standard options are 800x600, 1024x768 and 1152x864.
Normally the default (in XP) is set to 800x600 which means the display will be 800 pixels wide and 600 pixels high.
For Windows Vista:
First right-click on the desktop and then left click on Personalize from the menu that appears.
The display properties dialogue box will appear, click on the display settings tab .
This slide bar is what you use to change the resolution, the options you have will depend on your graphics card and monitor, but the standard options are 800x600, 1024x768 and 1152x864.
Increasing the resolution would help you to display all the content in single window, without using slide bar
Please try this and leave me comment, if you need further assistance

Acer AL1912 19" LCD Monitor goes black after power up.
The problem with this monitor is a leaking capacitor on the power supply board. It is the middle one at the top in a row of three. The value is 10V 1000uf. Common problem for these.
Remove 4 screws from back of display. The case can be popped apart with a small flat putty knife at different points along the two seams. Three latches on each side and two at top and bottom. Push and twist at the latch points. There is a metal cover over the two boards. Power supply board to left. Screws and plugs can be romved. Unsolder Capacitor and replace. Radio Shack probably has them. Maybe a couple bucks. Be sure the power has been off for a while. These also have problems with the button board and corrosion at ribbon cable.
Any Drivers for ACER AL1912
With very few exceptions, LCD monitors do not require a driver. Almost always, and display setting issue is an issue with the Display adapter (Video Card) driver. The plug and Play monitor driver that is native to Windows should work just fine.
Determine if you are having problems with your monitor or video card in your...
Many people have problems determining if their monitor is bad or their video card is bad. One good way to test this is by swapping out your monitor with a friend, co-worker, or family member with a known good monitor. You can do this with either your computer tower or your monitor. Follow the two steps below:
1. Take your computer tower and plug it up to a known good monitor. If the computer boots up with no problems and you are able to see everything on the known good monitor, then your monitor is bad.
2. Take a known good monitor and plug in to your computer system. If the computer boots up and you are still having problems and getting a black screen or some message saying "no signal" then your are having problems with your video card.
Some common symptoms of a monitor going bad are as follows:
1. A humming or buzzing noise coming from your monitor.
2. Picture fades in and out.
3. Colors appear in various places on your monitor screen that normally would not be there. Most common colors presented are red, green, or a mixture of the two.
4. Picture presenting either light or dark and will not change no matter how much you change the color or tint setting.
5. Lines appearing on the monitor screen. These will look like the lines on a bad television.
6. Monitor takes longer than normal to present picture. This time can vary depending on how old your monitor is and how far into the malfunction phase it is.
Since your monitor works off the same principles as your television set, most the time it will present with the same symptoms as a television going bad. I hope this helps in your troubleshooting process to determine if your video card or your monitor is the one causing the problems. These symptoms apply to the regular monitor only and not necessarily an LCD monitor.
I have a acer al1912 faulty
It might be worth a try but the two different sizes could have differing resolutions and if they do, the boards are not likely interchangeable.
