Acer AL1715 (Black, Silver) 17" LCD Monitor - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Blinking lights when PC is s.down
Not sure what happened as I had a whole message typed and lost it. Here I go again. I hope it doesn't post twice.
We have an Acer AL1715 monitor which started having this problem after a power surge. It was the only piece of equipment affected by the surge. I searched for an answer when it happened but got nowhere. I contacted Acer about this and they told me I would have to bring it to a tech to be looked at. Decided on a whim today to try Googling again and found this website and Q&As.
Though we didn't know what "Brunin" was nor saw an "F" change color, we did get into the Menu on the monitor and used the right and left arrows to see what was there. We decided to use "Reset" by highlighting it and pressing the "Menu" button for "Enter".
This appears to have solved the problem for us. The monitor is no longer toggling colored screens when idle nor when the computer is off.
Thank you for solving our problem. It has been very annoying for the user and anyone sitting across from her monitor during a meeting.
My ACER AL 1715 OSD keeps popping up in the middle
My first guess would be a mechanical problem with the brightness or contrast button. For example, if somebody overtightened the screws holding the switch panel to the inside of the front bezel, the switch actuator(s) might be be pre-loading the switches so a small vibration closes the contact. Another possibility is conductive contamination (e. g., spilled beverage) on the switch board. Also, check the switch actuator tip for molding sprue (extra plastic that didn't get cleaned off at the factory).
You may be able to feel a difference between the button(s) that is acting up and the others. If you do, then this is definitely the place to start.
Will not power on
Hi...there,
There're 2 ways to opened it. From the back cover, take out the 4 screws. Then get a good grip with both hands on bottom R/H side of the open edges and pulled as hard as you can... The other way...it's from the front bezel. Next placed a piece of cloth or paper towel on top the screen to protect from smudged... Then used both hands grip on the edges of the bezel and pulled up...do the same on the other sides.. The rest you know what to do... Have fun!
ACER AL1715ebm LCD MONITOR BAD VGA CABLE
you are in a bad spot, the plug is sealed when molded. maybe ebay has a defective monitor and you could take the cable off it.
Monitors will usually snap apart with a butter knife.
Acer LCD AL1916W
This usually means the Power Inverter board is going bad. If you're a bit savvy with tech repair, you can look up and order a replacement board - LCD inverters for MANY LCD models are available on ebay and amazon - they're relatively easy to replace. Just make sure the power is UNPLUGGED before to start taking apart the display!
Al1715 problem
I have had a lot of these in over the years. The fault in almost all of them was bad capacitors.
This is an easy thing to repair if you know how. If not I would advise handing it to your local TV tech. It should not cost alot to have repaired.
OSD LOCKOUT
Turn the screen off with the power button.
Then press and hold "AUTO" and then press the power button at the same time. Your power button should go amber. Release both buttons.
This should put you into the factory service menu by pressing the menu button where you can reset the whole monitor back to factory settings.
When you are finished, just exit the menu, turn the monitor off with th epower button again, and back on normally.
Hope it helps.
My ACER AL1715 is doing
It sounds more video card/driver/settings related.
Try setting the resolution to 1024x768 intially. It may help to find the optimal resolution settings for that monitor. Max resolution on it seems to be 1280 x 1024 / 75.0 Hz.
Still seeing double? Try updating your video card drivers.
Still? Try installing the LCD driver. While I've never had to do this, it may be an issue with this model. For XP, select your model here: http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/acerdrivers.cfm
OSD Lockout
Have you opened the monitor's onboard menu and checked the OSD settings? Do that and see if you can change those settings there. I would also open the Device Manager and check for problems. If you see any yellow question marks, that hardware has a problem.
AL1715 Acer this really is annoying
Hi...there,
It's seems your monitor went into hybernation... Hehehe... Just kidding! :) Actually, you got a burnt out backlight inverter. It's time for a replacement. Good lucks, have a nice day!
Screen display has a problem
Hi..there,
Well...sorry to disappointed you, but you got a damaged panel. Don't bother to replaced the panel...it will cost you 2 times the amount the you paid for the monitor. Just buy a new one...saved you the headached and $$$... Have a nice day!
Pink monitor
When you got the new monitor, did you also get a new cable? Most likely the issue is not the monitor but either a bent pin on the cable connector or a bad wire within the cable. Try using a cable from another monitor or borrow a friends to test, before you buy a new one.
ACER AL1715 POWER SUPPY BOARD AR577 VP-583 TURNS OFF AFTER START UP
I have an Acer 1715 that also turns on, then goes dark after a few seconds. The capacitors on the AR577 supply/inverter board were good, but I replaced them anyway. There is a good write-up with photos at:
http://www.electronicrepairguide.com/acer-al712-lcd-monitor-repair.html
This shows the board nicely and capacitors for the 1712 Acer, which is very close to the 1715.
This didn't cure my problem, and after chasing signals, I believe the problem is a bad inverter chip. The SG6841SZ on the back side of the board is a 20 pin gull wing surface mount package that drives the FETs to switch voltage off and on to the high voltage transformer. I know the diodes and FETs work because it comes on. The transformer drive stops when the backlights go out, though the voltages are all there. The 5V drive signal from the control board is there, so the problem has to be the inverter, or all 4 FETs.
If I can get hold of the part and it fixes it, I'll post it here.
Thin red vertical line length of screen(right side)
Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.
I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.
OR, Buy a new monitor.
Monitor Problem:
You may be encountering a hardware fault that numerous people appear to be having (myself included).
Get a bright torch and point it at the screen once it's 'gone blank'. Look for any text / images that you'd expect to be displayed.
You will normally see a faint display which shows that the problem is just with the backlights. Unfortunately the inverters for these are built into the power supply (Delta Electronics, model no. ADP-40AF) so you will more than likely need to replace this. It's probably easier, simpler and cheaper to buy a replacement (non-Acer) monitor!
Same problem
You may not even have those capacitors on your board. All boards are coded differently according to whoever manufactured them.
Here's a site with pictures that address's this issue and will give you more insight on this problem.
