Rejecting tapes
I had the same problem with my SC-D363. My screen would flash "D" and tell me to eject the tape. Here is the SOLUTION:1) Very Gently unscrew (4 screws)and remove the front casing portion of the camcorder, be sure not to strip the screws.2) Directly underneath the lens there is crosslike metal support that extends from the tapecompartment chassis. The green circuit board should rest on top of it as shown below instead ofunderneath it, as it was when it was assembled. And Voila! Camera works like when it first came out of the box.Custom Car Parts

Hi:
Try cleaning the video heads, this is a indication that the video heads may be clogged and needs cleaning, If you have not kept the heads clean during use, or for extended amount of time, you may need a professional cleaning, try a tape cleaning cartridge first if this does not unclog the heads then take it in for service.

It is one of 2 things, the video heads need to be replaced and the alignment needs to be checked. I have replaced many drum assemblies in this model and it is most like your culprit. I hope this helps.

All of miniDV cam does have FireWire port somewhere in it (or at the docking station in case of SONY's)
In order to capture the footage from the cam to your PC,you need the Firewire card and the cable.Should be available at any computer hardware store. All you have to do is to install the card to your PC,connect your cam to your computer via the cable, and capture the video by your favorite video editing software.
Yes,that sounds a bit more difficult than drag-and-drop work in USB-connection camera, but not too difficult to understand,of course.
Computer does'nt reconize Sony handycam HDR-HC1E
You need video editing software in order to capture video. You can download free software or trial software on the internet. If your using windows you may check to see if your PC has moviemaker on it. Not my favorite, but if your new to this, then it will work.
All PC's these day's have firewire inputs, but that doesn't necessarily mean you have the video drivers and software to communicate with your camera. Most Camera's don't come with video editing software.
I recommend SOny's Movie Studio for $129. It's worth the money and fairly easy to use.
