If the monitor does the same thing or similar on another computer its the monitor or vga lead at fault
Check first, the security of the connections from the computer to the monitor, these need to be tight to avoid loose connections and therefore signal loss, id these are ok, check the condition of the vga cable, look for splits cracks and bent pins on the end of the lead, check also the socket condition of the monitor, if any pins on the lead are damaged, discard and replace the lead

If the monitor signal is ok on another computer, check the graphics card / connection to graphics port on the computer, could be this is faulty.

Now check the monitor by resetting to factory settings and pressing the degauss button, check also that there are no magnetic devices like speakers near the monitor.

After those checks it still occurs, the monitor is failing and will need replaced

Most likely a power supply problem. you need to find a service manual, or take your unit to an Acer, recommended, service center, ask for a "Quote" for the repair, before proceeding, as sometimes cost of repair is nearly as much, as a new one.

Sounds like either your monitor is about to break or that there is something wrong with the connection between your computer and your monitor (something wrong in the cable). Next time that happens, try to move the cable connecting your computer with the monitor. If it fixes it, you better go buy a new cable.
