check the cable connections
reconnect them. if nothing happens try hooking it up on a different computer.
if picture does appear still, check the video card of your computer, it could have been damage.

It may have dying power supply problem due to bad caps or shorted out backlight inverter circuits.
Look for bad caps with leaking/bulging top first sine it is easy to do without test equipment (bad caps can look OK but can have high ESR- Equivalent Series Resistance).

Did somebody stick their thumb on that part of the screen, and their fingers on the back, in order to pickup the monitor? If so, they damaged the screen.

well your prediction is right you just have to replace the monitor or if it is in warranty period just drop in to the samsung service center so they might help you.

This problem occurs because of display driver or resolution issue.
For that when you power up the computer press F8 key before you see windows logo .
then you can see safe and other menu enter in enable vga mode then go to start ->control panel ->display ->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
If sill not able top see dispaly in normal mode then enter in safe mode and uninstall graphic driver then restart computer then install graphic driver again.
Also Reattach all connection to harddrive because some times harddrive is not recognized properly in bios .

Samsung implements protection into their monitors, which allows to block all settings except brightness and contrast. This "Locked" mode turns on by pressing and holding 'Menu' button for 5 seconds, and turns off by pressing and holding 'Enter' button for 5 sec.

Try booting in safe mode. The res will be about 800 x 600 ( i think).
If that works great.

If the monitor is still unresponsive then you should try to RMA it.

The connecting cable or the video card would be the first suspects. Try a different cable to connect the monitor first, if there is no change, the video card in the computer would be second to look at. Can simply connect a different monitor to your computer to troubleshoot this. If the testing monitor works, it will be the graphics card that is the issue.

Press the auto key of your monitor to get the best fitted resolution for your window, each monitor has a limited graphic capability of which it is designed. if the production is not ok consult your manufacturer.
