First make sure graphic driver works fine and resolution is set to proper resolution.
For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in "Enable vga mode" then go to start menu->control panel->display property ->settings change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
if still same issue then uninstall graphic driver then reinstall.
If still same then you need to change monitor if you are not able to reset settings of monitor to factory defaults.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Hi,
please try doing a factory reset of the monitor.
please press the menu button on the monitor itself. you can easily locate the buttons below or on the right hand side of the screen on the monitor panel.
select the factory reset /recall options with the help of the arrow/+ - buttons.
this would reset your monitor color settings to default.
Black line over entire width of ctx monitor screen
You need a new screen surface...you can order one from any reputable dealer....just take your monitor apart and unattach all of the components and replace the screen area with the appropriate part. You are not specifying whether or not it's an LCD or a CRT...if it's a CRT just go buy a new one :) if it's an LCD you can replace the screen for 100 dollars or so.
Hi we have a ctx monitor PV720A that stays on for
glenn659, possible cause is bad internal switch-mode-power-supply" failure or SMPS is detecting something wrong with lcd cold-cathode-fluorescent-tube backlighting circuit, (INVERTER) and it goes into SHUTDOWN mode to try and prevent a catastrophic failure from occuring. Glenn, visit youtube, search for video clips on LCD monitor disassembly and also also research BAD Capacitors or Swollen Capacitors and also the "WHY DO LCD MONITORS FAIL PREMATURELY" Certainly your's will be in the top two causes! Did you do the flashlight test with your monitor "on" and connected to a known good PC with the WIN-desktop screen showing. Even though screen is BLACK it might still show the desktop when you hold the light about 1" from screen. Some will, some won't depends on condition of the power supply. In any case get back to me with your plan of action you intend to take after viewing YOUTUBE stuff. Bye for now. I'm louie12fix on fixya or

My CTX VL701 EX701F monitor
Hi,
If you are referring to a conventional CRT monitor, then the fault you have described is indicative of a cold solder in the vertical section. Often, this would be any of the pins of the vertical IC. The vertical IC is the only IC that is heatsinked and sits at the back of the flyback transformer.
This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
