How do i open up

Can't say I am familiar with that exact model, but usually there are screws hidden under name plaques and other glued-on paper. Then usually the edges have tabs that "hook" under the opposite edge so even after you get all the screws out you have to insert something to unhook the tabs. But before you do all that, I have not seen many fuses inside a monitor.

BenQ FP731 Screen briefly displays then turns off

hi. i had the same problem and fixed it. the problem are the 4 transistors (C5707) one of more are shorted (Q739,Q740 and Q759, Q760). Also the fuse PF751 (3a) has to be replaced in most cases. In my case i replaced the fuse and 1 transistor (C5707)

No picture on screen but

Here is a couple of suggestions for this monitor. 1st check your connection to the computer.
make sure the VGA/HDMI/DVI is properly connected. 2nd check to see if the monitor is setup
to use the right source. Some monitors do this automatically others may need to be manually set.
either look for a button to do this or bring up the monitors menu by hitting the menu button. If the monitors menu button does'nt bring up a menu when the computer is off then the monitor is probably bad.

If the monitor works until the OS boots then goes black. The video card in your computer is set up
improperly with the monitor . In Windows hit F8 as the OS boots this will cause the computer to boot in safe mode. Once in safe mode right click on the desktop then go under properties then settings and change the display option to the correct monitor. You can also go to the device manager in my computer under system information, hardware, device manager and change the monitor here also.

Screen shuts off after 3 seconds

Failing power board capacitors, capacitors store the charge necessary to fire up the monitor, if they leak or blow, the power cannot make a circuit and the screen will shut off

Possible short in the main board, possible in the display drive power. The set triggers ON but the error makes it trip off due to the fault. So disconnect the main power to the driver IC -and check, make sure that all the leads on the board are having good contact- NO DRY SOLDER.

My benq lcd monitor says

It may not be the monitor problem but the video card in the PC, you need to verify it first by hooking it up to another PC. We need to narrow down the cause of the problem first before going further.

This sounds like the CFL tubes are not working properly, this is common.
If under warranty then return it, if not then get a technition to replace tubes.
Or it might be cheaper to buy a new 20" LCD screen.

Please do make sure though that the brightness is set to it's maximum by using the menu buttons on the screen itself. It would be some-thing like menu then right arrow to brightness then select button, right button again to increase the brightness.

Please rate, it's the thumbs up.
Thanks

Display is not coming

It is possible that your PC is not POSTing, connect your screen to another computer and see if it works, if it does then the problem lies with your computer.

Screen is blank

It may be the same chassis as DELL monitors. So look for shorted out transistors, bad caps, etc.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.
