Smack the bottom of the camera with the palm of your hand and it will unstick the zoom. Worked for me!

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated. This will require disassembling the camera to repair the tape mechanism and can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

It may be a physical damage to the button for the tight zoom ...or ..it is just an odd setting cause by mode ...So first put the camera in normal shooting mode...and after that look in the main menu ..and reset it to the factory settings ..This should get rid of any settings that may cause this ..and if ti still behaving the same you know it is a physical fault ..and need to get it to be checked by a professional..

Your question isn't very clear, but I'm assuming you mean a video in your camcorder. You should be able to do it right in the camera. Most camcorders take video and pictures and have a switch to toggle back and forth. Find the switch and toggle over to video, then press menu. Go through the menu options until you find an option to delete. Confirm you want to delete and it will be deleted right in the camera.
If you want to preserve the video first, then plug your camera with a USB cord into a computer. Newer computers will automatically install the camera driver and recognize it. If it doesn't automatically recognize the camera, then you will have to use the disk the camera came with or go to the manufacturer's website to download the driver. Now plug it back in. A menu should automatically start and you can choose to transfer the video. There is usually a check-off box that says delete after transfer. Check that box and the video will be deleted from your camera after it transfers.

Hi,

This is highly suggestive of faulty ' CCD sensor '. Unfortunately, there is nothing you could do rather than calling Canon and see, if the CCD sensor for this digital cam us under CCD advisory. If it would be under CCD advisory, repair would be done without any charge. However,if it is not, then you need to raise you complaint and check what's the best Canon offers viz either repair at low cost or replacement at discount.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

This sounds like a defective zoom switch which can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

I had this problem and I only ejected a cassette. I tried new and old cassettes. Same result as you experienced.
What I did and I again don't condone striking electronics as a means to repair them but, at the advice of another post and having tried everything I could think of, I stuck the bottom of the camcorder with the palm of my hand several times and it worked. I don't know why it worked and it really shouldn't have but it did.
I think the real problem is a cleaning/lubrication and ultimately should see service by a local trusted shop. Try it I had nothing to lose and it worked for me.....

First off I don't condone or advise hitting an electronic device but, from the advice of another post I did it and it worked. It shouldn't have but it did. I hit the bottom of the camcorder with the palm of my hand and it worked perfectly afterward.

Try unplugging your camcorder from any type of power source. Leave it unplugged for about 10 minutes and try again (this will act like a reset button, which your camcorder doesn't seem to have one). If this does not work, you will need to have the camcorder repaired by an experience technician. There are lots of components inside the mechanism that could go bad or get damaged. Hope this helps you.

I tried to look over the camera for 20 minues and could not find any slot to put the USB cable in. I looked over the camera just one last time before giving up and and i found a little pull tab on the front of the camera. I pulled the tab and it opened showing a circular insert (for hookup to a TV) and a USB slot!

You'll need an IEEE 1394(firewire) for taking instant video to the puta, then the DVD. You always have to save it on your puta first as a wma, avi or other type of flie before transferring it to the dvd burner. If you don't require instant gratification you can use the AV/AD out to USB cord that came with the cam. A Firewire cost around $60 for a 5 footer.

Try a different tape in case the take up isn't working in the previous tape.

Clean the tape heads with a tape cleaner in case there is buildup on the pinch rollers causing the tape to jam or slip.

If those solutions don't work, you should take it into a repair shop to have a closeup view as to what the problem is unless you see something obvious like a spring broken or loose or a bent piece or foriegn objects in the deck.
