Well u can try to format the drive and load a fresh copy of the operating system. When its using short term memory to dump its boot errors then its never a good sign. Viruses cause this most often but a bad sector on the hard drive itself will also do this. If after you format the drive and still it does this then its time for a new hard drive.

Press F8 during boot this will take you to boot options select "Last Known Good Configuration" or select Safe Mode to perform a system repair.
To repair your system follow the steps below
1. Click Start and open Run on the Start menu.
2. Type (or copy and paste) C:\WINDOWS\system32\restore\rstrui.exe in the Run box.
3. This will open System Restore now select the first option (restore my computer to an earlier time) and click next.
4. Select a date when your network last worked and complete restoration.
Do not worry about selecting the wrong date you can always undo any restore within system restore you will select undo last restore.

Try right-clicking on My Computer, go to Manage, then go into Device Manager. Inside Device Manager's list, do you see any devices with a yellow exclamation point? If not, expand the "Network adapters" section and see what's listed. It's possible that there is no wireless adapter in that laptop (unless you're sure there is one). Another possibility is that the wireless adapter is there, but not functional, faulty, or just plain broken. If the device is there and working, it should show up in Device Manager as an installed device; if it's there, but not working, it'll show up with an exclamation point. If it's not in the list at all, it's probably broken or the laptop doesn't have a wireless card.

Take it to the closest computer repair shop... And have them clean your laptop... Maybe the coke short circuited something on the board, and now it doesn't work ...

The same thing happened on my HP. I ended up buying a LCD screen off ebay. That corrected the problem. New screens cost $150+. You can get one off ebay for half the price.

First I will confirm what you've posted.

Before going to your friends house you used to connect the laptop up via the network cable. Since youve tried your laptop on your friends wireless it no longer allows you to surf the web via the wireless nore the wired connection?

To me it sounds like a possible mis-configuration between your laptop and your linksys router. Depending on what operating system you are using you need to get into your network connection settings (usually in control panel) and either set the TCP/IP to automatically obtain ip address or set it correctly.

If you have never had to configure this in the past ensure that obtain automatically is set.

Chances it is the lamp. Some lamps are very hard to change. Hopefully yours will be much easier. You did a very good thing changing the inverter first. As you have a 50/50 chance anyway, so now you know it wasn't that. Good luck.

You may have hit the WiFi activate button, it should be above the keyboard on the left hand side, if it still won't connect try resetting the modem by unplugging power from it for 30 seconds and power it on again, wait a minute for the modem to reset and try connect again

You need to get the following wireless network information:

Wireless network name (aka SSID) you would like to join.
Security type (WEP/WPA) and the password/passphrase.
Channel.

Also make sure what the router and your wireless adapter/built-in card is capable (common is Wireless B/G, the new one is N)

I had the same problem and it was my battery - i would strongly suggest getting a new one, doesnt need to be an ACer - it could even be a generic one- just as effective.Try www.cellphoneshop.net, they sell cheap batteries.

Uninstall it from the device manager and reboot. If you have WinXP it will find new hardware and reinstall it. If you have the new drivers saved on you computer, when the installation program asks for it, direct it to the saved location. Should solve your problem.

It sounds like your hard drive is crashing. You should run diagnostics. You can find out what manufacture makes your hardrive by looking at the label. It appears to me that the harddrive is accessible through a door on the bottom of the laptop underneath where your right palm would sit if you were typing. it's either a trojan running in the back ground, so run an antispyware programme and anti virus or it could be a corrupt updated driver, so if you have had no problem before this started it will be easier to do a system restore in accesories>system tools menu to the day before it started to hang.
