Swapping the amp will have no effect on FM reception. I'm shocked that the factory would even recommend that. It's probably just a bad tuner pack in the radio. Get it replaced

Radio should just turn on. If not after replacing battery, may have gotten a voltage spike. Check the fuse. If it's ok, the radio may have been been damaged.
