Miele G641 dishwasher. -inlet/Drain light

I found all of these tips helpful although my issue was slightly different. The styrofoam float had become slightly warped with age and was triggering the switch while dry. Shaving a little of the foam off has returned my dishwasher to working order.

I have a Miele G641 dishwasher and it wont drain

One thing these guys did not point out is to turn the knob to STOP before starting this procedure (otherwise you will be ignored) Once done this works fine.-- from the manual ----------------Before rectifying the problem you must:- Turn the programme selector to the "Stop" position.- Switch the dishwasher off using the "On/Off" button.

Dishwasher is not working. The red

There are a few things you can check. First set the washer cycle to Stop and turn off the unit. Next make sure that the stopcock on the inlet valve is fully open. Then close the stopcock/valve and disconnect the inlet hose. Remove the seal and then the filter (use pliers). Clean this inlet filter with running water. Replace the filter and seal and reconnect the hose to your inlet valve. Reopen the valve (check for leaks from threading problems). Make sure the valve is fully open when you try to restart the dishwasher. Check your incoming water pressure at this valve as well - low water pressure will also trigger the inlet error. Make sure the hose is not kinked.

If the washer did any parts of the wash cycle, then try cleaning the outlet side of the system.
Next clean the combination filter, drain pump and non-return valve. For the filter (near the lower spray arm), turn the handle counter-clockwise. Lift the filter out and remove all debris. Rinse under running water and use a nylon bristle brush to get stubborn stuff out. Pull back the yellow clip and open the filter flap. Clean the underside of the filter with running water again.

Remove the water from the cabinet with any container that works. Raise the locking clamp for the non-return valve. Lift up the valve and clean it under running water. Carefully check the drain pump (now visible with the non-return valve out) and remove any debris. Sharp objects may be present. Move the impellers and completely check the pump for foreign objects and remove them. Replace the non-return valve and secure it with the locking clamp. Replace the combination filter so that it lays flat and secure it with the handle. Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked.

If neither of these solve the problem, you need to call for service. The Waterproof safety system has been triggered and water got into the electrical system of the unit.

Many Miele appliance manuals are here: http://www.miele.co.uk/customer/OperatingInstructions.aspx . The manual for the Miele G641 is here: http://www.miele.co.uk/Resources/OperatingInstructions/G%20641%20and%20G%20841%20Plus.pdf . See this manual for pictures of the filters and drain pump area.

I hope this helps.

Miele6841 plus novotronic red intake/drain light

Hi - there are two things to check - turn off the water & clean the filter on the hose fitting - secondly empty trays - remove the mesh on the bottom, locate the round spring over a plastic housing on the right side - beneath is the housing pull upwards to dislodge- here you will find the pump impellar- clear any debri from here - assemble & test the machine...

This would normalyy fix the machine.

DO NOT FORGET TO SWITCH THE MACHINE"OFF" PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING REPAIRS - OKAY!!!!

What is the salt when it comes to the dishwasher

The light is just to let you know that the internal water softener needs water-softener salt.

If you do not use the softener (I do not at my house) then the light serves as a convenient on/off light.

My Miele G641 displays the

Hi.

This is not a PC, when logic board is fried the machine does not start at all rather than doing weird thing. The logic board is not fried, in the worst case the salt sensor is jammed.
Try first pouring a couple of litres of hot water on top of the salt reservoir (that must be done normally after refilling salt). After that you can reset the machine by tripping the circuit breaker.

If that does not work, pour water until you clean completely the reservoir from salt. Run a couple of cycles with no salt, reset. Put new salt and pour water on top.
Start a cycle.

See other testimonials with same problem here.

Inlet/drain, salt and rinse aid light flashing

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The first thing that should be checked is if its draining properly as it could be that the drain hose is clogged and needs to be cleaned. The drain pump also should not be clogged. Also the stopcock should be opened fully and the water inlet valve should be checked for any clogs. Also the metal filter, impeller cover and the air gap unit should be checked. After checking this you can reset the error as follows: turn the rotary selector switch to "Stop/End" or press the "Start/Stop" switch for approx. 5 secs. Then switch the appliance off and then back on again. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Inlet/outlet light keeps flashing on G641

hi,

this is a general fault light which could mean anything without a Miele Technician coming out and connecting a
laptop to the unit. However most common faults with dishwashers is a drain fault. Check for any kinked hoses and check the drain spigot under the sink where the drain hose connects into the u bend. Usually this is where food gets trapped due to the spigot not being drilled out large enough. This then causes a blockage. Also check the non return valve under the filter and make sure the drain pump can turn freely. See what part of the cycle the unit lights up the fault. If it happens at the very start it is the drain. If it drains ok then fails it is the inlet. If it fails after that it could be any number of things.
Hope this helps.

Where is fuse located for Miele G641 Plus

hi,

there is no fuse on this model. first thing to do is check the incoming power at the socket. you can also find the electronics which control the unit all behind the door handle. Check there is power reaching the control electronics.
underneath the unit there are the components like the drain pump, circulation pump, hoses, pressure switch, relay for the heating, water sump etc which are all driven by the control electronics behind the door handle. you will find about 6-8 screws holding this front facia panel on. Remove this and firstly check all the connections are good. you may find a plug has just worked loose.
Hope this helps.

Salt indicator light comes on?

Check the instructions which are freely available from www.miele.co.uk or the relevant site for your country. Browse to the current models and you should find the PDF for your model. For non-current models, instructions are under the link "Customer Support".

In general, the instructions are as follows:
If the water in your area is very soft and constantly lower than 0.7 mmol/l (4 °d) you do not need to add dishwasher salt. The water softener must, however, still be programmed to correspond to the water hardness level in your area. (The salt indicator light will still come on, but should be ignored).

Important: Before filling the salt reservoir with dishwasher salt for the first time, you must fill it with approx. 2 litres of water to enable the salt to dissolve. Once the dishwasher has been used, there is always sufficient water in the reservoir.

Inadvertently filling the salt reservoir with powder or liquid dishwasher detergent always leads to serious damage to the water softener. Make sure you have picked up the correct packet of dishwasher salt before filling the salt reservoir!

Only use special coarse grained dishwasher salt for reactivation. Do not use other salts such as cooking salt, agricultural grade or gritting salt. These may contain insoluble additives which can impair the functioning of the water softener.

To refill:
* Remove the lower basket and unscrew the salt reservoir cap.
* Fill the reservoir with approx. 2 litres of water (first use).
* Place the funnel provided over the salt reservoir and carefully fill with salt until the reservoir is full. The salt reservoir holds approx. 2 kg of salt depending on the brand used.

As the salt reservoir is filled, displaced water will overflow.
* Clean any excess salt from around the reservoir opening and then screw the cap on again firmly.
* Run the "Pre-wash" programme immediately to remove any traces of salt water from the cabinet.

For the Miele, the salt reservoir is usually under the bottom basket, the cap is usually grey in colour. [Only the latest models have the refill cap in the door itself].

You should be able to find dishwasher salt just about anywhere, I've even found it in Malaysia, sold at good ol' Tesco!! Brands of salt include Calgonit (Finish) & Somat.
