Are you getting a scanner failure error? Turn the printer off, open the scanner cover and turn printer on and see if the scanner moves or the light comes on. If it does not then likely the scanner has failed.

If you have the CD that came with the printer, you can reinstall from that. If not go to HP.com and select the SUPPORT tab, and select the DRIVERS option on the drop-down menu. When the page appears, you can use the manual selection option, or if the printer is attached to the device you are using to access the site, you can try the auto detection process. Once you get to the download, choose the driver for the OS you have. Then download and install it.

You need to talk to HP tech support... to do a proper reset you need to access menus that are meant for tech support and developers only. If you "brick" your OJ using those menus on your own (including instructions from anyone here), it's considered customer damage and voids the warranty. If you post your request at the link below, you should get a PM from an official HP tech support person telling you how to do the reset.

If you read through the posts, there are many ideas on what to do. The cheapest and easiest way I found to fix a broken hinge is to follow one the ideas in the posts. I wrote a detailed post step-by-step. In quick summary, I broke the other hinge and removed all the broken pieces to both, so the lid would lay flat again. Printer doesn't care if the hinges are not there. The manual is on line:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&document=&product=3635378 Hope It's resolve all Your Printer Problem,

!Ahh, this is a little tricky but I have found the best way is to wait until after normal business hours so the printer is not expecting anything.

Then sneak around behind the printer and throw a blanket over it so that I can't see whats happening, open the ink tray and remove the empty cartridge while getting out an original ink cartridge box.

This is the trick - Secretly put the refill in place of the expended original cartridge!

As you pull the blanket (or whatever you surprised your printer with) off the printer, walk away muttering how expensive printer ink is and throw the empty original cartridge in the rubbish.

Your printer should now be completely fooled into thinking it has a new original cartridge!

What this will most likely is a driver issue, what I suggest is check what driver you are using.

to do so go to start then devices and printers

right click your printer and go "Printer Properties" in the new window click on the advanced tab you should see the option for a new driver and the one It is currently using. if it is using a generic windows driver try swapping to a HP official driver from their website. if it still doesn't work you could try one of the universal drivers.

Open ink access door.
1. Make sure the printer is turned on. Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are missing.
2. Open the ink cartridge access door. [This is the panel that is to the left of the touchscreen. To open, put your fingers on the upper left hand side of the panel (by the logo: HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium), You should be able to gently pull the panel so that it opens out.]
NOTE: Wait until the print carriage stops moving before proceeding.
3. Press the front of the ink cartridge to release it, and then remove it from the slot.
4. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging.
5. Using the color-coded letters for help, slide the ink cartridge into the empty slot until it is securely installed in the slot.
