Incorrect gap on ignition coil? On/off switch stuck in closed position and grounding out spark?

Try holding trigger while starting.

Remove plug before trying to start pull a few times with plug out you may have quite a bit of fuel exhaust from spark hole then reinstall plug and try starting. Sometimes fuel runs into head above the piston (especially in hot weather) causing the piston trying to combust a liquid. If you leave fuel cap loose in hot weather it will help prevent this.

I believe the choke lever is used to kill motor.

Try adjusting the low idle screw on the side of the carburetor you should see two or three screws one with and "L" low one with an "H" high idle and one for the cable idle stop. Sometimes these get clogged and some are adjusted for high altitude right out of the box. Start with a half turn out see if it starts. If you truly do not get a spark you might have to replace the ignition module. If the screws have a strange looking head on them ( Two cycle carbs often have half moon or other odd shapes try using a bic pen on the screw. Saves you from having to buy a whole set of screwdrivers you will only use once in awhile. Good luck.

TYRONE, HAVE YOU TAKEN THE SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE TRIMMER, YOU MAY HAVE FLOODED IT, IS THE FUEL FRESH NEW WITH PROPER OIL MIX ,IF ALL THESE THINGS ARE DONE WITH THE PROPER INSTRUCTIONS ON THE TRIMMER IT WILL START ,I HAVE A COUPLE OF THESE HOMELITE TRIMMERS ABOUT 10 YEARS OLD NEVER FAIL TO START VERY IMPORTANT TO PUT FRESH FUEL OIL MIX EACH SEASON. Would bet it is 32:1 but many people now days are using a 50:1 mixture using a synthetic 2 cycle engine oil with 89 octane fuel even for 16:1 ratio. Claiming no carbon buildup and more power.????

1 check your comprassion ratio on the cylinder , 2nd fuel hose broken or blocking the fuel 3th or fly whell key broken, start with new spark plug on 2 stroke engine 4th check for exhaust blokage 5th check the switch off and on for shortage, Fit fresh fuel,Check choke for floating the engine.
