typically if your vacuum is loosing performance it is time to replace the bag depends on how fine of dust some really fine dust will clog the pores at a 1/4 full

I have seen generic filters do this. Be sure to use original Miele filters. The generics are a few dollars cheaper to buy but you end up with an inferior quality filter that could cause other problems by continued use. same is true with bags.

A clogged filter may also do this. Miele vacuums are very tightly sealed, the exhaust air has to come out. If the filter is clogged, the pressure could pop the filter out, HEPA filters are suggested to change out about every 50 hours, for most people this is between 1 - 1.5 years.

We had a Miele come in for service the other day with the same complaint, installed filter was a generic, customer said it was a new filter just installed. We replaced with an original filter and problem ceased.

There is an electronic circuit board on the motor that may have gone bad and will have to replaced, part # 06836740 and sells for around $75.00, for model S516. But if this a S316, then it could be the speed control mounted on the motor, Part # 04416342 and sells for around $83.00. Both of these models are Cat Naad Dog so you need the model number berfore you order a part.

you will need to take the unit apart find the screws that hold the unit together 2 under the the bin cover at the hinges 1 holding the black control cover when you have removed the screw then just lift the cover it will be stiff just pull it up under this find all the screws and remove them remove the motor and you will see the pcb on the side of the motor it will have a dry joint on the solder this back up and that should do it make sure you unplug the unit b4 you work on it

Will it power up without the hose attached? If it does then you have a clogged hose. If not, there is a circuit board by the motor that may be bad.

Yes they can be used together, and they would fit in the same slot if there is room.
