I am having the same problem, I tried to replace the black cartridge and now it says it is the incorrect cartridge, so I put the old one back in and get the same error message.

Just uninstall and reinstall the printer driver because it is outdated in windows 7 operating system. If still not printing, try to download free software for windows 7 compatibility

Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached. To reattach the cartridge, turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head. Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report. Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.

You can get a replacement printer with the same specs for about 40$. It is not worth having the printer repaired. You can check that the power supply is still good with a multi-meter. If it's not the power supply cord and it's the printer just replace it.

If you have installed now the printer, you should install the drivers.
Else, replace the usb cable if you have reinstalled the drivers before.

The only thing you can try is make a copy using only your PSC . If the problem persists , it may be a problem with scanner lamp . Contact an Assistance Support.
