HP Laserjet 4100 jams after about 50 print jobs

most typical jams are caused by bad pickup roller or separation pad. When you pull out the paper tray, and look inside the printer above the tray area, there's a roller that is held on with a little clip in the center of the roller. Pinch that clip to take the roller out and clean with soap and water. do not use alcohol based cleaners, they dry the rubber up and shorten the life span drastically. The separation pad should be right at the front of the paper tray, clean that also. If your printer keeps jamming after that, you may have some more serious like a fuser going bad.

Display says toner out even with new cart. Setting

A number of companies use a fuse that blows when the cartridge is low. If the fuse is not replaced, it will still say "toner out". The reman should have replaced it.

Black marks and words on paper

Toner Black marks can only come from two places.

The toner cartridge or the fuser.
The best course of action would be to remove the fuser with the power off and line up a sheet with the problem with the fuser to see if possible to line up the mark and see if the fuser has a like defect in that position. I use inches but it is possible 79-80mm would be the edge of an envelope if you print them and I have seen instances where some envelopes over time cause a line on the fuser which then shows up on regular paper.

Hope this helps.

One more Method to sort out.

1. If a duplexer is installed, remove it. If a duplexer is not installed, remove the tray 2 dust cover from the rear of the printer by pulling from the bottom.

2 Remove the rear cover/rear output bin.

3. Rotate the two blue levers on the fuser assembly up to the unlocked position.

4 Pull the fuser assembly straight out of the printer.end chek de fuser.
5. When reinstalling the fuser assembly, be sure the blue levers are initially in the unlocked position.
6 Make sure the fuser assembly is seated fully before rotating the blue levers down into the locked
position.

Hope both informations will solve your problem.

Please have a regular maintenance agreement with local vendors for your printer to get serviced every month.

Best of Luck.

HP Laserjet 4100 series , paper jam output tray

Hi F_bulsara,
First thing to try is to flip the paper over in the input tray. There are 2 sides to paper. One side may curl a bit too much due to heat of the fuser and get caught near the output rollers.

Unless the Output Assembly was assembled wrong, it is impossible for the rollers to turn the wrong way. The gear in the fuser drives the output assembly. The top rollers are rolling out.
If the rollers are not rolling, then one of the gears must be broken or missing. The output rolllers might need cleaning.

Next check the fuser unit. Disconnect power to printer and turn printer round. Remove the back output tray and the two small covers (left and right). Undo the 2 screws that hold the fuser in place. Pull the fuser out. Check the gears on side of the fuser. A broken gear in the fuser could cause this problem.

USB to Parallel Printer for Mac

How are you connectiong it to the Mac? If you are using a USB to Parrell device, that may be the problem. The best and stable way to do it is by using the optional print server.
The 4100 has a formatter board on the left side of the printer (looking at printer from the back). This board has a slot for an optional EIO print server board. You can purchase this through HP and then set the printer up through your router/network.

Paper jam error after last page prints

Hi Natoli3,
This could be a mis-match of paper sizes. Example, computer could be sending an A4 page to the printer. The paper size in the could be set to Letter. Ensure the 4 paper sizes match, in the computer - the document and printer driver; in the printer (change in control panel) and paper tray (adjust the physical side and length).

Hp 4100 paper is jammed

Hi Jacque,
I gather the paper has got into the fuser and cannot get into the output bin. Few things...
1. Clean output rollers. Are rollers moving?
2. Check gears on the fuser unit. Any broken or worn gears?
3. Check default paper size setting in printer, paper size setting on tray, paper size setting in printer driver and document page.
4. Leave the back door open. Does the printer still jams? If it does, see it could be paper pick up problem. Use different trays or the manual feed. Also the fuser unit could be the problem.
5. All else fails, replace the output assembly.
