Delete the drivers and go out to www.hp.comEnter the correct answers and download the latest PCL5 drivers

if your using a network try to replaced your jet direct or try to re install your printer driver and change also the ip address of printer.

look in the control panel and see if you can set that printer to default printer

Either your memory is bad on the printer or the formatter is bad. Remove the right side cover and open the metal cage for the formatter and reseat any memory chips you find there. Make sure the printer is unplugged from power first.

The error 49.xxxx is for the firmware hence you need to remove the Memory DIMM from your printer clean it and install it back. If not try to update the firmware if available on net. or perform the cold reset.

1. Turn off the printer
2. Hold the online button (Green button)
3. Turn the printer on
4. When it displays its performing clod reset leave the button and let the printer perform the initialization.

This is a simple problem bob. You can check if the paper exit path on top of the printer. You will find a small plastic flag which has got stuck and needs to be released hence you need to move it with your finger a little and this will go back to its original place normally and this will solve the problem.

This is the sensor responsible in telling the printer that there are lot of papers on top of the printer and no more papers can be dispensed out of the printer.

TONER OUT
The toner cartridge has run out of toner.
Depending on how the printer has been configured, it will either continue to print or stop.
Due to the resolution of the toner level sensor, it is possible that a small amount of toner (less than one percent) might still be present in the cartridge.
1. If the printer has stopped, you can resume printing by pressing GO for each job.
2. Replace the toner cartridge.

1. Open the Printers or Printers and Faxes folder.
2. Open the Properties of the printer and the Ports tab.
3. Click Configure Port .
4. Uncheck SNMP Status Enabled .

49.XX errors are communications errors. They usually are generated by electric interference to network connectivity or memory.
Actions:

1. Clear all print jobs from the queues. If you have a lot of computers this is sometimes a quest.
2. Re-start the printer and see if the error clears.
3. Plug the printers power cord directly into an outlet and bypass the power strip/surge unit.
4. Remove the Jet Direct (Network Card) and restart, then power down re-install and try again.
5. Power Down and remove the formatter. Reseat DIMM's, re-install formatter board and try again.
6. If error still pops up do a cold reset.
7. If error still exists we may have to replace the formatter. Try formatter from 2nd unit prior.
8. If you can install formatter in another printer and error follows we have the problem source.

I would try eBay or various vender's for your best deal on formatters if it's failed. HP made a ton of these printers. Formatter Board Part Number - C4169-60001.

This is usually a pretty common network problem for printers and other devices on a network. If you network uses DHCP that automatically assigns IP address's you may have developed a conflict when you installed your new printer.
You will want to print a configuration page from both printers to determine what the IP address of each is then manually configure independent IP address for each to preclude further conflicts.

your replace the interface cable and re install the driver

This might be a cartridge issue. You should also ensure that you have the media type set to envelope as this slows the pirnter down and provides best print quality. If the toner cartridge is not an OEM it might me the issue as well as toner quality on remans varies dramatically.

To automatically duplex, you need the optional duplexing mechanism.
If you don't have this, your only option is to print the odd pages first, put the papers back in the tray, then print the even pages.
When you put the pages back into the paper tray, make sure they are print side up.
Try with a 5 or 6 page document first to be sure you get the orientation right.

If you HAVE the optional duplexing unit (which sticks out the front just above the main paper tray) then post a reply here and I'll try to help you further.
99% of the people that own this unit do NOT have the optional duplexer!
