Scanner cables do go faulty and when they do your computer will not see it. If it is a driver issue then visit the maker's website. They should have the latest drivers.

The old ink got dried up on the contacts. Remove the ink cartridge and using a cue-tip with water clean the contacts where the ink cartridge contacts the other part. This would be a good start. if the ink isnt coming off easily with water try alcohol, its cheap at most dollar stores just watch out for sparks and flames around alcohol and just pour out small amounts and put container away before use.

Get online and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Eton Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download and install the Webcam drivers.

You can always download Manycam and install it. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "download.cnet.com" (without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When the site opens look down on the left and you will see a gray area that says Find Software. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in the white search area then hit the search mirror. When it brings back your results look for the one that says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it and install it. Make sure you remove the check box on any junky programs it would like to install. You only want to install ManyCam, no additions whatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use, and you will always know where your webcam software is.

Friend, You need to reinstall the device as the scanner portion of the drivers are malfunctioning. Please read the following and act accordingly:
Although there is a wizard to install devices on your PC or laptop, but still there are problems being faced by users. The reason is that there is a logical procedure for installations. Read on.
There are two things that you install. The drivers for all the devices and the program to use that device for some. First of all insert the CD that came with the device into the CD drive and let Autorun takeover. You will be guided throughout the process. Just answer a few questions and the SW will start the installation process for drivers. Once drivers have been installed then you can proceed with the installation of the program needed to run the device, not for all devices. After this task is accomplished always reboot the computer/laptop.
After the reboot, attach the device to the PC. Windows will immediately start the detection process and on detection will load its drivers that you had just installed. And then a notice appears in the right bottom corner of the screen saying "The new hardware was successfully installed and is ready for use". Or words to that effect. Now you can start using the new device whether through its specific program or through other programs that are meant to use it.
There are times when you are reinstalling the drivers. In that case you must first uninstall the old drivers and reboot the PC/laptop. Uninstall it from Control Panel->Add Remove Programs. And then reboot and reinstall.

unless you are printing and choosing black only, the printer uses the color cartridge also. Go into advanced settings and choose black only. If not you may try and replace the color cartridge, or return the cartridge, it might be defective.

sounds to me like a cog in one of the gear wheels is restricted somehow or has lost one of the teeth and that is what the noise is

As soon as you installed it, you prompted a change in the ink levels which will AUTOMATICALLY pop up on your screen when you are properly connected and attempt to print something. That is when you tell the system that it is a new cartridge. OR YOUR PRINT HEAD IS CLOGGED Brother printheads are very easily clogged with air bubbles so there is very high risk that refilling ink will damage your printhead. It is not worth it to save money on ink and wind up with danmaged or totaly nonfunctional printheads.

Probably there is piece of dust, or some dirt (usually a pencil mark) on the scanner glass, which is located under the front panel. Open the front panel and clean the glass with a soft cloth. If necessary, use some liquid cleaner, but put it on the cloth, not directly on the device.

Hm, ok, so to clarify you CAN send faxes to any number, except for one particular number you are trying to fax?? That means it is the destination fax that is having issues, not yours. Please clarify though, is this what is happening?

It sounds like an empty cartridge. check your cartridges, it may be time to replace them. You have to give more information like did you try a print test and if so did it print ok? have you tried to have someone send you a test fax from different numbers?
