The machine is telling you that there is something wrong with one of your toner cartridges. If you recently installed a remanufactured cartidge the builder didn't replace the smartchip on the nose. If your using OEM (HP) orginal cartridges you may have got a power surge that has knocked out the memory on the toner cartridge.

Try to bypass the error. Attempt to print a "Supply Status" page from the printer. It will tell you exactly which one is at fault.

If you are talking about the icons under the little display first four are the toners the one on the far right is the drum unit it has a small solid circle with a large bar going through it rounded at the bottom & has like a fish tail on the top goes top left to bottom right.

it is tonet or u can also say "ink cartridge" change it or shaked it.then refix it.open the front dooeu see ink cartridge then pull it.

Could be a bad laser, or the laser shutter may not be opening. If the Laser shutter is not opening. it can be because the printer cover has a broken notch. The notch pushes a button under the cover to open the shutter.

Did you get the correct yellow toner? It's possible that the tabs which identify the cartridge are misaligned or broken. Try a new one.

Make sure that the door switch actuator is plugged in and that the tab on the door isn't broken or bent.

Try substituting a new imaging drum. The problem may be a bad bearing.

Try to clean all sensor

Here's a copy of the complete HP service manual for your machine. Your problem is the indexing or alignment of the carousel gears. There are timing marks on both sides of the carousel that must mach up with the drive gearing. Kinda like timing chain marks on your car. When the gearing has jumped it increases the gap between the drum and cartridges and prevents the toner from the cartidge from being properly attacting to the drum.

This can be a problem with the fuser , base from the description of the problem that you're encountering now and also you said that the drum is almost new...

Try to run maintenance software. Print test pages and see if the color ink does have prints. If print test is working and you can see soe color printing, go to printing properties and check mode of printing, grayscale mode might be activated.

Does it work with this error....if so you wanna
make sure that you have a HP cartridge, sometime the chipset is not recongnize....and you have some function that doesn't work. If you try all this, call HP.

I recently spent six hours troubleshooting the exact same problem (swapping all kinds of parts and motors) except with mine only the yellow would print and one time the print came out correctly. If you know how to take the machine apart, this has to do with the carousel drive motor positioning solenoid. The solenoid has a pad that is a silencer for the solenoid are the starts to deteriorate and "sticks". You could fix this (with electrical tape over the pad) or replace the solenoid. Either way, you need to get to the part.

You need to measure the distance between two dots (In milimeters if possible). After that I may be able to determine what is causing the problem.
