I replaced cartridges a month ago and did the alignment as required. Ever since, every time I turn the printer on, it insists on printing a new alignment page. It doesn't require me to align the cartridges - and once I have printed the alignment page, other printing goes without problem. I have been leaving the printer on lately and haven't had a problem - except wasting electricity (vs wasting ink and paper)
I see a couple posts about this happening with "test" pages; is that the same as the alignment page? The alignment page is the with the various colors of bars and columns; then you set it on the scanner and scan for alignment.
It is really irritating; I hope someone has a good answer. Many thanks for helping.
Jim

Every time i turn the printer on, it print a test sheet. I tried the earlier suggestion regarding "open HP Director and click on the factory settings button". The factory setting button was not avaliable only the apply button. The printer is a HP PSC 1510v all-in one
A lot of HP printers print a page to enable the print head alignment and calabration. This normally orcurs when a cartridge has been changed. If the alignment page fails then it will reprint alignment page until it can align.
So, you need to get that page it prints and place it on the glass and press scan, then it will complete alignment and be ready to rock.

I can print and copy but the scanner won't scan. Recently switched the all in one from XP to Vista. Any suggestions?
what happens whenever you are trying to scan.... any error message or any error number?
try scanning from the printer to the computer using the scan to option on the front panel of the printer.
try scanning from hp solution center installed in your computer.
try scanning from mspaint. to do so, open paint and click on "file-->from scanners and camera".
how did you installed the driver. have you got the correct cd to install the printer in windows vista???
if not that may be the problem. the printer can print and copy well as you are having the drivers which will work in win vista. but for the scanning functionality you need to get the cd to install the printer in windows vista. you can download it online.

the above link will help yu to download the win vista software and drivers for this particular printer.
Thanks and regards

I have the "missing PhotoGallery.msi" problem. Just started showing up after I installed RegCure and it cleaned up. I cannot find PhotoGallery in my startup menu and do not know how to prevent it from starting up. Neither does it show up in programs/add/delete.
I have HP F4180 printer on my computer. I have never had a PhotoGallery disc. Help. I deleted printer software and reinstalled.
Hello,
You can approach this a few ways:
Cleanup A Problem Setup
An additional possibilities if the above info doesn't do the trick:
If you don't have the disc, it may be included in the download found at the following link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=al-64285-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=3177566

Remove PhotoGallery (you can reinstall it afterwards if you use it):
If the problem persists, try the following:

I want to scan a document and email it. Son't know how to get the document from the printer to my computer..
You should have recieved software with the printer to do this, Look in the Hewlett-packard folder in the programs menu. It might be listed as HP Director. From there you should choose scan to as the option, one of the choices should be "to Fax".

I want to use my hp psc 1510 just with black cartridge.(without color cartridge).
This may be difficult if you just leave the color slot open. Some printers recognize that it is empty. Most times you can bypass this by placing the old cartridge back into the unit and it will think it is a new one.
Go to the printer properties and select black and white or grey scale.
