Hello.
It sounds more like a cartridge problem. if the printer has been un-used for a while it may simply have a blocked head. If it is going through the motion of printing but nothing is actually printing then it is defiantly a cartridge issue.

If the paper simply feeds in, then feeds out is is a paper sensor issue and I would recommend simply replacing the printer. Fixing it would cost more than the printer is worth.

Go to Programs or All Programs and find your printer. Click it and look for Maintenance or a similar name. Click on Clean Cartridges and maybe that will clear it up. Try a Test Page. If still no success, go to the web site of the printer and look for help under your model number.

Changing the ink cartridge is not the only problem, the print head will need to be changed as well.
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages,then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

On refiilling catrdige may have some nozzle detection problem,so you have to purchase one new catridge and install,it will work.(check put the catridge number)

Hello gar.... Since the computer is working from your wife's side, the solution for you is to reinstall the printer's driverr disc. Down load it and run it. In the event that you do not have the disk, you can download it for free from HP.com/drivers.

Most of the HP printers are designed to allow printing onlywhen all cartridges are installed and
have ink.
Install a new tri-color ink cartridge and printing will continue as usual.
My printer, which is HP, does the same thing as yours, until I replace the empty cartridge,
printing stops.
