HP Photosmart 7450 InkJet Printer - Page 5 Questions & Answers
The cartridge is stopped by a protruding piece of plastic.
I took mine apart today, there's a silver cover on the left that needs to come off to access the final screw, and I can see of no way of separating the two halves, as there's a tab that protrudes down from the cover which connects with the bottom half. I ended up levering it off. This gives access to the panel and button circuit that unclips and unplugs, then undo the last screw, then there is a clip that needs to be held back to get the top cover off.
Hope this helps,
Paul.

HP Photosmart 7450 stuck cartridge
not a solution, my paper feeds past the point where
printer would normally begin. Then flashing light changes from green to red and print operation stops. Printer
cartridge appears to be stuck in far right area of cartridge track.
Replaced drivers as above and still have the same problem.
Mine started after I had replaced the color cartridge. Mailed the old one to HP already so can't put in old cartridge.
If I unplug printer from computer, I get same results. Does the driver software install in the printer?

Reinstalling

Wont accept xd picture card
Hi, tecnil
Device cannot detect files on the memory card.
Cause
The memory card might be missing or inserted incorrectly.
Verify that the memory card is inserted correctly.
The files might not be in the correct format.
To
print from the device control panel, the files must be in the sRGB JPEG
format. To print other formats, you must use a software program on your
computer.
You might have inserted more than one memory card.
Only one card slot can be occupied for the device to detect JPEG files. Verify that only one card is inserted.
oke,

Paper jam
dear yelly
try this methode
There are 2 different types of flashing patterns with those two lights on the printer.
***
Resume light and power light BLINKING ALTERNATELY
Problem: Paper is jammed in the printer.
***
Resume blinking SIMULTANEOUSLY with power light
Problem:
The print cartridge carriage is stuck.
Solution:
1. Open the top of the printer.
2. Remove anything that is blocking the carriage path.
3. Turn the printer off.
4. Turn the printer on.
Problem:
There is something wrong with the printer. (I didn't write it, I am
pulling this from actual HP tech documents, so don't blame me on this
one) :)
Solution:
Turn the printer off.
Turn the printer on.
If the printer will not turn off, unplug the power cable from the electrical outlet or wall outlet.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
Wait about 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Plug the power cord to the back of the printer.
oke,thanks

Installation
please
click here to download the drivers for you printer please select your operating system and follow the screen setup.
im gonna guess off the top of my head that you have a antivirus/firewall on.
this ushally prevents software to be installed expessually when you get a error on the install.
please uninstall then software then reinstall the software without the firewall or antivirus activated. here is what you need to do.
Start--->Run--->type: msconfig---->in the general go to diagnostic startup---->accept, close and reboot
Install the software it should install now.
Then reboot
then goto
Start--->Run--->msconfig---->in the general options to to normal startup--->accept, close and reboot
Trouble with new cartridge
Sounds like the cartridge is not correctly seated. Try taking out the cartridge, check that it is the correct one for your printer. Then re-insert it. There should be a positive click when it is correctly seated. You can check the 'feel' of this if you still have the old cartridge. You need to be firm, but not rough. Some printers/cartridges are quite stiff. You may need to align the cartridge after re-inserting it. Check the display on the printer and be sure to do the test print if offered. There may also be pop-up instructions on your computer.

Too Much Paper
2 possible solutions.
1 The paper itself. Check that the paper tray is not overfull. this can cause multiple sheets to feed through. Also make sure that you use good quality paper suitable for the particular type of printer. Always keep the paper dry Damp (not wet) paper will also cause the sort of problem you describe. another good reason for not keeping to much paper in the paper tray. Paper will keep better in the packet than in the tray. Always store the paper in the packet in a warm dry place. I keep mine near a radiator and away from the Air con.
2. The printer driver. Download the latest driver for your printer from the manufacturer and update the printer driver, via the control panel/printers. If you don't know how to do this you can simply uninstall the printer and then install it again using the new printer driver.

HP Photosmart 7450
Most printers have a photosensor on the head assembly and the assembly (as it moves back and forth) rides on a strip of plastic that is dark with clear spots. That is how the cpu in the printer knows where (left to right) the head asm is located. So, If that strip is broken, or dirty or if the sensor is dirty this can happen. The sensor could also be defective. Try using some canned air to GENTLY blow away any paper residue in that area and then reset the power to the printer. If that doesn't help, then the printer needs serviced.
Hope that helps...

Won't take in my photo paper!
hi dear
I had to reread your first post the mention of what to
do with all the photo paper. I see you mean that you don't use matte
photo paper you use matte heavy weight paper. I guess I mean that as a
question! That is the only thing that works for me with no smearing
problems. I haven't found one that is thick enough for a good feel. I
used an avery matte paper that has a coating for photo but it just
feels very light. Doesn't smear and looks sharp but very light weight.
What brand do you use ?
post in me back
ok,thanks
