How do i scan a

"Scan to email" feature is dependent upon the TWAIN and MAPI supported applications. TWAIN and MAPI (Message Application Programming Interface) are standards that relate to "Scanning" and "Scan to email" features respectively. Applications have to support these to make use of HP Director. Not all email accounts are MAPI supported applications. The following are the ones which satisfy the MAPI criteria.

Microsoft Outlook Express 6

Microsoft Outlook Express 5

Microsoft Outlook Express 4

Microsoft Outlook 2000

Microsoft Outlook 98

Microsoft Outlook 97

AOL E-mail Version 8

AOL E-mail Version 5

AOL E-mail Version 4

If you are not using any of the above email accounts, you need to configure your email account with Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express to use this feature. After configuring, you can use the scan to Email feature by perfroming the following steps.

1. Open HP Director/ HP Solution Center.

2. Click Settings -->> Scan Settings & Preferences --->> Scan to... Setup.

3. Select the available destinations and add them to the front panel destinations.

4. While scanning, you will receive a window showing the scan details which contains the section "Where do you want to scan?". Select "Email".

Cartrige won't move

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Cup of distilled water
  • Clean wash cloth
    Fixing The Printer Cartridge
  1. Shut down the HP 6480 by pressing the "On/Off" button on the right side of the control panel. Some paper jams will clear themselves just by turning the printer off and starting it again. Wait a few minutes after the printer has shut down and then turn it on again.
  2. Remove the paper feed tray. If the printer does not clear the paper jam by itself, shut off the device again. Be sure to pull the tray out gently to avoid damaging the device.
  3. Lift up the automatic document feeder. The feeder makes up the top half of printer, and it can be opened like the hood of a car. Lift the sides of it slowly. This exposes the printer mechanism and ink cartridges. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer mechanism with both hands. Pull it gently to ensure you don't damage any components.

  4. After removing the paper, clean off the cylindrical, silver printer roller. Dampen a clean cloth with distilled water, and gently wipe any dirt, ink or paper off the roller. Rotate it when you're done cleaning one side, and continue rotating and cleaning until the roller is clean on all sides.
  5. Close the automatic printer feeder. After removing all paper, close the top printer feeder and shake it to ensure it's fastened. Re-attach the printer tray by lining it up with the arrow markers on both sides of the printer.
  6. Put one sheet of paper into the printer tray, and reset the HP 6480 by pressing and holding the "On/Off" button for 15 seconds. The printer should automatically restart and return to factory settings. It will run diagnostics and the printer cartridges should begin moving again as they print a test sheet.

I have a printer jam

Hi,

Makes sure you clear any kind of paper jam sometimes small or tiny piece of paper inside the unit can cause jam.

There's could be possibility that you get false paper jam error when there is no jam in the unit, this is usually caused due to dirt or dust got collected into paper feed section like clutches, feed & pick up tires or dirty sensor, If these component are dirty device will give jam error, Cleaning paper feed section ( Clutch/gears, feed & pick up tires & sensor) with mild soap & water will do the trick.

I hope this will solve the problem

Thanks..!!

When i print the image is banded with white lines

Sounds like the print heads are clogged. Go to the printing preferences and find your way to the maintenance tab. In there should be a utility to check for clogs (Nozzle Test) and clear blockages (Clean the Print Heads). If these utilities do not fix the problem you can try pressing the print head (shinny metal on bottom of cartridge) into a lightly dampened paper towel for 3-5 sec. This should rehydrate dried ink. Be sure the contacts on the cartridge are clean and dry before reinstalling and see what you get. If it still is not better your cartridges may need replacing or it may be a sign of a paper feed malfunction.
