HP PhotoSmart 7960 InkJet Printer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Recalibrating a refilled black ink cartridge for a photosmart 7960
your printer probably cannot recognize one of both cartridges
clean the contacts of the cartridges and the contacts of the cartridge carrier with a wet towel
if that does nt work your ink cartridge has probably overheated because air has left in the cartridge after refilling and must be replaced
check here the right way for refilling

To know when ink needs rep
With compatible ink you will just have to watch for colors fading. HP software supports only HP ink, so the ink monitoring software will not function with compatible cartridges
My printer works fine except
go to the printer properties, servicess perform print head/nozzle clean two or three times then check if not resolved check which color caetrige effected stripes replace it.
I have an HP Photosmart.
The problem could be that the cartridges are not seated correctly. Try taking out the cartridges and putting them back in. If this does not help, the cartridges may need cleaning. Steps to do this are
here. Otherwise, cleaning the cartridges and the contacts to them can be done by carefully removing the cartridges and swabbing the contacts and area around with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. If this still does not work, the cartridges themselves may be defective. See if you can get a refund or replacement from where you bought them.
I'm running Windows 7 Home
First I congratulate you for fixing your problem all by your self without needing the help of HP Support.
Well i can't really tell what could be the problem because there are many factors for that problem.
But here are the things you can check:
- check the front panel of the printers for any error msg like "paper jam, carriage jam, out of paper, etc.", that may cause it to spooled or stuck in queque
- check the connectivity. If you are using wireless, make sure that your signal is stable
- computer related errors: make sure that there is no conflicting programs or viruses that may interfere with the printing. Update your windows and anti-virus program.
- Include HP softwares into your firewall exception area
