HP 7310xi: "Remove and Check Printer Cartridge on the right"
Sounds like the carriage is broken on the black side. Pull the cartridge out and take a look at the silver metal piece. Is it loose from the side and if so did it punch a hole in the circuitry that cartridge comes in contact with. If I were a betting man this is probably your problem. You have to replace the whole carriage. This is a pretty common problem with the carriages that use the #96 and #97 cartridges.

Fax machine not sending documents
A) Run the fax test on the printer itself to see if it's connected properly and has an active phone line.. HP All-in-one printers still make a dial tone sound even if they aren't connected to a phone line.
To run the test 1)..Press the SETUP button. Press the down arrow button until "Tools" is highlighted then pres OK.
2) Press down arrow key again and select "Run Fax test"
The printer will then print out the results.
It will tell you if anything fails. If it does, the correct the problem it mentions.
IF everything passes, then the problem is likely your cable phone line which is a "Digital" and Fax machines still use an analog signal.
Here is what you can try to overcome the deficiencies in a cable phone system.
1) Set your fax speed to Medium
2) Turn your ECM (Error correction mode) OFF
To set your fax speed, Press the SETUP button again.. Press your down arrow again until you find "Advanced Fax Settings" and the press OK.. arrow down until you find "Fax Speed" and hit OK. Then choose Medium (14,400) and press OK
This will take you to your previous menu (Advanced Fax setings).. Find "ECM Choose OK again.. Then choose OFF and press OK. Press the X button on your printer's control panel and then Retry your fax.. Hope this helps
What are the ink cartridge numbers for this printer?
The OfficeJet 7310 can use different ink cartridges: Black: HP 96 or HP 94 (high capacity - lasts for ~860 pages, if it doesn't dry out.) Color: HP 95 or HP 97 (large capacity) Photo: HP 99 (replaces black when you print on Photo papers) Photo Grey: HP 100 See

HP printers give errors when it doesn't recognize the cartridge as the appropriate one. First check if you are printing in a low quality mode. This is under Printer Properties or Printer Preferences when you click Print or right click on the Printer in the Devices Control Panel. Go to the Printing Shortcuts tab. In the Advanced Options (click the button), you can change the ink volume and slide the tab to the right to add ink. You should print a Diagnostic test page to see the color levels/reproduction relative to the HP settings and consider cleaning the print head. The diagnostic page is reached by pressing * and # on the printer. Then press 1, 2, and then 3. In this Service Menu, press the right arrow key twice and press OK to open the Special Reports menu. Press the right arrow key once and then press OK. See

I've seen dull colors on photo paper when you print on the wrong side. This is obvious since the ink will bleed. The other common issue is differences between the color appearance on the monitor and the printer reproduction of that color. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells
Jam in the document feeder
I think I found my answer. You don't have to un do any screws. Lift up the cover to the automatic feeder. You will see a spring on the side of the mechanism towards the front; remove the spring; that will allow you to lift up the little arm the spring was attached to and remove the roller or bar and the light blue/green plate just under it. Then you will be able to see the jammed paper, which which I was able to carefully pull out with a pair of tweezers. Some was under rubber rollers, but when I pulled the paper sideways it slipped out. Now it works!
Hp 7300 officejet makes static
This appears to be static discharge from a leaky capacitor connected to
the audio amp in the speaker. You have two solutions. 1. Send in the
unit for repair. 2. Disconnect the speaker wire (Red and Black) that is
attached to the speaker located on the inside. Lift the case as if you
are replacing the cartridges. Remove the paper and the printing tray. If
you look on the left hand side you will see grills for a small 1"
speaker. They look like slits. Reach your hand on the inside and next to
the speaker there will be a red and black wire attached to it.
Disconnect the wires, Disconnecting the wires will disable the audio
system, but you'll get peace and quiet.Read more:
