No it can't be done because HP does no more produce drivers Vista nor W7 for this unit .
Here are a few hints :
Make sure driver XP ( yes , XP ) is correctly installed . Then , go to http://download.cnet.com/FreeKapture/3000-2094_4-10673689.html and install FreeKapture , it's free .
Load FreeKapture , clic on Scan and select WIA Hewlett-Packard . Scanner works fine in this mode . If you choose HP PrecisionScan Pro , program will hang .
In any case , no slides or negatives scans possible but the rest works .
If you have the W XP install disc , you could install a virtual version of W XP on your HDD ( http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0 ) You could also partition your HDD ( http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html ) and install W XP on the new one . Otherwise , you will have to buy a new scanner , what you probably already have .

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:))

u change the cable of your scanner and connect to new cable and install all the drivers and software properly your scanner working properly

u can use any foam,just paste any thick plastic sheet on that it should be white n clean ,in order to avoid any dirty backgrount of the image,so dont panic ,use any foam ,

The factory default is blank.

Sounds like the main circuit board fried. You can't repair it, thus replacement is the only option. That will not guarantee normal operation and your taking a chance one way or the other.

Install the drivers for it from the HP website. Other software for it should be there as well. As to scanning speed, setting it to scan at lower resolutions can speed scanning. Scanning for color is slower than scanning for Black and White, FYI.

Hah, hah. That is what happens when you upgrade unnecessarily to an operating system for which you do not have the correct driver. Unless HP provides a driver u are out of luck - they prefer that you buy a new scanner from them, of course!
