Remove hard drive from hp pavilion 790

Dear Anonymous, http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00225826.pdf pages 11->19 show detailed instructions on removing/replacing the HDD on this model computer. N.B.: Make sure the jumper link on the socket end of the new HDD is in the same/equivalent position as the old HDD. (If in doubt "C.S." or "Cable Select" is always a safe position.) Kind regards - 'b'ye, Bruce Gilbert.

How do I test the Sound card when the Control Panel sound states no audio device?

You should check in Device Manager to see if your audio driver is installed and working properly. If not, reload it. You could also check in the BIOS setup to see if the onboard audio has been disabled. There is also a possibility that the onboard audio has failed. You can order a sound board to install in the nachine to restore audio capability. Just disable the onboard audio in the BIOS, install the card and load the drivers supplied with the card. Hook your speaker to the jacks on the new card and you're back in action.

How do I test the sound card when the control Panel Sounds states no audio devices?

Try booting with a Linux disk and see if sound works. If so you most likely have a driver issue.

APPLICATION HPSU -0004 MISSING FROM LIBRARY

Basically, the HPSU-0004 Error states that one or more DLLs (libraries) needed for the Update utility to run are missing. The libraries were deleted, or pointers to irrelevant libraries were left in the Registry.2 Possible Solutions:The EASY solution:1. Remove all of your HP (Hewlett Packard) Printer software from your computer and do a fresh install from the CD that came with your printer. The Hard Solution (only do this if the easy one doesn't work):1. Download a current version of the FULL drivers+applications (single HUGE file) for your printer;2. Start running the file downloaded in the previous step, until it offers the option to install the software (other options might be there, such as "read the Readme file");3. Do NOT click on "Install", but rather simply exit the Installer (cancel, exit, ...) - the reason for step 2. above was to just have the downloaded file extract in an orderly manner all the files that it (and YOU) would use for its (and YOUR) further processings;4. Locate on on your drive the installation folder created in step 2., and -- under it - the folder "setup\hpupdate" (the whole thing should be located somewhere under the TMP or TEMP folder - just run a Search/Find for it, using your search engine of choice);5. IF (and only if) you have located the HPUPDATE folder in the previous step (you will, normally), continue:6. Under Windows Control Panel, start the "Add/Remove Programs" applet, and -- in the list of applications it presents -- look for "HP Update";7. Remove the HP Update application as you would any other application (the uninstall process might end with some errors for files not found - this is normal in this case, as we already know that some files are either missing, or mistakenly pointed at, as stated earlier in this text);8. Now go to the setup\hpupdate folder located in step 5. above, and run (double-click on) the only *.msi fie found within it (this will reinstall the version downloaded of the HP Update utility);9. When Installation (previous step) is completed, run the newly installed HP-Update utility, to find further updates both for itself (you might not have had the most recent version) and for any other HP application that might reside on your drives.10. This completes the processGood Luck!

Disk boot failure how do i fix this

Unplug your device from any power source or devices. Open it up and locate the hard drive, which is usually located near the CD drive(s). Unplug all the cables from it, and unscrew any screws you find on it. Then, do whatever you need to do with the drive (I recommend taking it to a professional). If you don't feel comfortable opening up the tower, take the whole thing to somebody who would know what they're doing.

Tower powers on but my monitor, keyboard and mouse don't work

Your system is failing the POST, I think. You'll need to troubleshoot it by opening the case and unplugging everything but the CPU and memory and video. Now power it on. If there still is a problem, try removing one of the sticks of memory.Once you isolate the problem, you can replace the part that has gone bad.
