Virus Troubles

1, get Real Anti Virus Protection. Norton or McAfee. 2 all is not lost. McAfee offer several solution in what they call Stinger. Norton will scan the computer before it tries to install and will remove your problem files as will McAfee. This is basically a bogus add someone clicked on that allowed it to install and until you get it gone it's going to keep popping those false adds up trying to get you back to the hack site that gave them to you to begin with. Download Stinger from McAfee for free and run it from a floppy or USB drive or Buy Norton and do the install. In fact, you could get the free trial and install that of either of these and they will clean your problem.

Right off the bat when I power up my HP Intel

Reboot the machine and when you see the HP flash screen, tap the key that gets you into the setup or BIOS screen. This could be F2 or the escape key, just watch for it. Once you get into the BIOS pages, go to the last page and look for the text "Reset Default Settings" or something to that effect. Click to reset defaults and answer yes if it asks if you are sure, then tap on the F10 key and click yes to exit and reboot. Restart Windows normally.....if there is still a problem, reboot and tap the F8 key when you see the HP screen. Choose "Safe Mode with Networking", this will load safe mode and minimal settings and drivers but will give you internet access to get help for resetting safe mode through the control panel.

Hp pavilion a450n problem fan is running on high

First off - have you ever cleaned inside the case? You'd be very surprised how much dust often builds up inside a PC. After that it sounds like you might have another fan which has failed. PCs often have more than one inside and they also have temperature sensors to keep the CPU cool. If a case fan has failed it would not have air flowing inside to cool off the other components and then the CPU sensor would kick the processor fan into "overdrive". One thing to note; the difference between a two wire fan and a three wire fan is that the third wire is used to confirm the speed of the fan. Fans are usually easy to replace - just get the right size and the same right plug.

My computer keeps shutting down randomly. Also

Possibilities:
1. overheating, and automatic shutdown.
Check that the fans are working.

2. bad RAM, causing "random" crashing.
On a "good" computer, download the free 'MEMTEST86+' software, and run it, to test your RAM.

3. Leaking capacitors on motherboard, causing "voltage-spikes", leading to "random" errors.

4. Bad disk-drive. Remove the disk-drive.
Connect it as a "slave" drive in another computer,
and run 'CHKDSK' ("Check Disk") to look for problems.

I want to upgrade the standard 512mb RAM to 2GB.

Hi,

You should be fine to just turn the computer on straight away as soon as you have installed your new RAM. The computer will recognize the new upgrade straight away provided you have got memory that is compatible with the desktop computer.

When you upgrade the RAM take the old RAM out and make sure your new RAM runs at the same speed as your old RAM.

From what i can remember the maximum RAM speed that an HP pavilion supports is 400MHz although it could well be 333MHz.

The RAM that's installed in the desktop at this moment in time will have the speed on it so you check with that.

Regards.

My hp a450n wont turn on after we had a power

Power supply was probably nuked. You can get a replacement from ebay or usually a local computer repair shop. They go for around 20-35 for most "generic" power supplies. Unless you're a hardcore game or crazy you probably will just need an ATX power supply. Easiest thing to do is just take it down to a mom and pop computer place and have them sell you the right one.

ANYONE can replace it. It's just four screws to take it out, then just plug the cables back.

Some HP models use a proprietary power supply, if this is the case with your model then eBay is the place to get a replacement. Just match up the power supply model numbers and you're good to go.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

The computer is beeping loudly and will not start

you have to check how many beeps it does, and also you have to check either its long or short beeps, all this has different solution, but sounds somthing in the board not installed correctly, could be the vga card, memory, ...etc.

Thanks for using Fixya I’m happy to help further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/mustafa_06f84c65ab5cc745

Will not power on

Had the same problem once. replaced My hard drive and it worked fine. If you have lights flashing it probably isn't the power supply.

HP a450n stays in a loop after thunderstorm

Hi,
This often happens during a storm and usually is quite an easy fix.
Remove the power cord, from the back of the computer, with the back of the computer facing towards you, on the right hand side there should be 2 screws top and bottom, remove these screws and take off the side panel.
Inside the case, on the motherboard you will see a large battery, take that battery out and leave it out for 30 minutes.
Now, remove the system memory, the memory will look like this >>>>>
6e1aa72.jpg

Just unclip the memory, get a clean, dry, soft paintbrush and clean the brass contacts on the memory with that.
If there is any dust on the slots that you took the memory out of clean them also.
Wait for 30 minutes, reinsert the memory making sure it clips into place properly, put back the battery, the side panel, the power cord and power the machine on.
When the system boots up you will get a CMOS error, don't worry about that just go into the BIOS and set the time and date, save the changes and exit the bios, the computer will restart and hopefully boot into Windows.
If you need anymore advice please post back.

Good luck.

My computer crashes or freezes a lot

It might be a virus.
Probably Lsass virus. This virus can get into your computer and really cause havoc with your network connections and also deny you access to certain internet sites.
You need a Lsass removal tool.
try to go here http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2004-050114-1706-99
and download the tool, and follow the instructions.
good luck
