When I turn on the

Hello,

You should check your monitors connection to the pc. If the connection is good, you will need to do one of two things:

1. Try using a monitor that you know works. If that monitor works on your pc then your other monitor needs replacing.

2. If you connect another good monitor to the pc and it does not work, you will need to replace your video card in your pc.

Good Luck

Will not turn on. electrical

It is most likely the power suppy module is bad and needs to be replaced. I would take it to a computer tech so the proper size and wattage rating is installed.

HP Compaq laptop cabinet fully

so what i am understanding is that your system is fully operational but the tower is cosmetically damaged. this is quite a job. if you are wanting you can buy whats called a mid atx computer. case. you can get these at a bustbuy or any computer store. you then would swap out the case. this is quit a job. i would first start with taking out the power suply. make sure you label all the wires as what drives and were on the mother board they go. so you know were to put them. i then would look into then taking the drives out one by one. you want to make sure you keep all the screws. a hang way to do is put the screws back in holes after u get piece of equipment out. the next step would be the mother board. there are four to six screws holding this down. you would be able to take this out. then all you do is put in in the new computer case. i would highly suggest getting a antiseptic strap as well as when you take out the mother board be very careful to just touch the sides.

Unplug it and then blow a hairdryer at the power supply for 3 minutes. Leave the lid on, just blow the hairdryer at it from the outside. Craziest trick I ever saw.

After that, turn off hibernation. And eventually, replace your power supply.

Blue screen error

Check your bios and see if you have the anti virus turned on. If you do then turn it off. Anti virus prevents windows and other operating systems from accessing the bios portion of the computer. If this works then don't forget to turn ON the anti-virus when you are done installing the new OS

Changed out the motherboard reformatted a blank

Sounds like your BIOS update did not complete successfully. Head to the board manufacturers website and check if there is some way you can reload the BIOS and recover from this. Most boards now have dual bios which means that if one bios chip fails or an update fails, you can reload the stored BIOS through the other chip. If you are unable to recover from a failed BIOS update, you may need to purchase a replacement BIOS chip from the board manufacturer. You may even be able to reload the original BIOS onto the chip through your local PC repair store so give them a call and enquire..

I just put a new

Hi,

Please elaborate the problem providing us with more details like whether you performed a fresh installation of Windows XP operating system in your computer. Also, have you installed the audio driver after installing Windows XP? Please check the Device Manager and see if the Sound drivers are installed or not.

To open the Device Manager, right-click on "My Computer" icon on the Desktop, select Properties, the Click on "Hardware" tab. Now click on "Device Manager" button. A Yellow Exclamation mark next to any listed device signifies that the driver for that device is not installed.

If you have not installed the drivers yet, download and install the drivers from the manufacturer's website by clicking this link. On the page which opens, select the operating system (Windows XP 32-bit/64-bit) of your computer to download the appropriate drivers from the next page.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa

My card reader on my desktop used to read memory

If your card reader is still working, try inserting it into another usb drive. Or try it on another computer. If you get the same result, you know the card reader has gone bad. If it works elsewhere, the driver you were using is bad.

Connected a 1 TB harddrive to one of the sata

Two things, first on a desktop, make sure the other sata connectors are enabled. Most desktops do not come with the sata inputs enabled, this can be done through the bios. Just hit F2 during the post phase and when the HP splash screen shows. Once there look for the SATA settings.

secondly, if the hard drive has never been installed on a computer it most likely is not "initialized", this has to be done for the hard drive to be seen, formatted etc. on the computer. Western Digital and Seagate have their own software that does this process. Since you cannot "see" the hard drive in the computer you have installed it in, I would guess that the sata connectors are not enabled.

Compaq SR1350NX

Well you are prob incorrect. Computer components are very vulnrable to power surges. Especially video cards. If you do not have both computer and monitor plugged into a suppressor or protector, more than likely it is your motherboard, video card, or cpu.

No audio on desktop.

Roddy,
Since you don't have audio drivers installed, I'm assuming the Operating system has been reinstalled. In which case you may have more drivers than just your Audio driver missing.

By Clicking the link below you will be taken to HP's driver support page for your PC.
(HP merged with Compaq a few years back)

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=443734

The audio driver you seek is the first one in the list labeled AC97

you can also find any other drivers there that you need for equipent that was part of the PC when it was first purchased.

Hope this helps you.
