My KitchenAid 9708416 will not turn on at all. It worked fine the last time I used it.

You have not supplied the model number, that is the part number for the silver trim band that goes around the motor housing. Also as well as the model number a rough idea of how old your mixer is may be relevant.

Trouble replacing part that has fallen out of the end of my KitchenAir mixer

Sounds like the governor has flown apart, you will need to take that black plate off the back, all the wires off it (take a photo first if you think you will need it) a spring at the bottom and 2 screws at the top. Once you get that off the broken governor will be exposed and you can lever it off with a couple of screwdrivers, don't lose the locating pin through the motor shaft. Part required is 17830 Governor Assembly Line up the notch in it with the pin you have in the motor shaft and bang it on with a soft hammer so that the notch engages the pin. When fitting the back plate back on first engage the speed control lever into where it belongs to operate the switch then put each screw in 8 full turns to start off. I put each one in a couple of turns then the other one until each is 8 turns in. Put the spring back on, put the wires where they belong and fire it up on low speed. Move it up to high then back to speed 1. You want the planetary to turn 13 to 15 revolutions in 15 seconds. I let the planetary knob brush my hand as it rotates while watching the second hand on the clock. Turn the screws in to slow it down and out to speed it up, you should move each screw equally. Once slow speed is set lock up the nuts that stop those 2 screws from turning. Job done!

Kitchenaid mixer blade holder will not turn

I answered this for you in the blender dept, it will almost certainly be the fuse gear and that's machine cases apart to look in the gearbox. Fuse gear part number is 4162897 Worm Gear If you want to make the repair a little faster then the fuse gear already mounted in the bracket is another option 240309?2 Worm Gear Bracket And Gear I call it a fuse gear, they call it a worm gear.

Kitchenaid mixer stops working after just a few minutes of use.

Probably a model number and a better fault description would help. Does it turn off like a switch or stutter & run down. What's required to make it start up again?

The speeds 1-4 on my kitchenaid 5qt mixer dont turn on and the other speeds setting are all the same speed

The solution will probably be under the back cover. Are the switch contacts touching at speed 1? Are all the wires secure on the black control plate? Has anyone been fiddling about with the speed control adjustments? Possibly the small 4 wire PCB above the black control plate is unwell although normally it would give completely dead or every speed high speed.

Kitchen Aid K5SS mixer runs for a little while then stops

Check the carbon brushes, they could be worn out. Apart from that you will be pulling it apart to find the burning, that's where the fault will be.

Adjust the mixer speeds (if necessary):
Remove the screw holding the End Cover and locate the three screws from the Control Plate.
All three (2 top left and right, and 1 bottom) must be adjusted.

1. Loosen the lock nuts enough & Turn the 2 top screws clockwise until they cannot be turned
anymore. Leave the bottom screw alone for now.
2. Use a dab of white paint or paper whiteout to mark the positions of the Phillips screws.
3. Plug in your mixer and Set the speed selector to "Stir".
4. Turn each top screw One full turn couterclockwise (alternating between Left and Right)
Keep making one full turn at the time (for both left and right) until the motor starts running.
5. Put your hand near the Agitator shaft and allow it to brush your finger slightly. Use your
watch or clock and start counting the number of times the shaft touches your finger in
60 seconds. The correct count should be 60 RPM (Rounds Per Minute). If it is less
or more than 60, give each screw 1/4 turn counterclockwise or clockwise and start counting
again. Now tighten both lock nuts.
6. Set the speed selector to "6" and turn the bottom screw either clockwise or counterclockwise
to achieve a speed of 180 RPM.

For your reference, the planetary RPM's for the 5-qt. tilt-head Artisan Stand Mixer are as follows:
Stir speed - 60
Speed 2 - 95
Speed 4 - 135
Speed 6 - 180
Speed 8 - 225
Speed 10 - 280

Kitchenaid professional 6000 My mixer has a problem and I know it's in the planetary but cannot figure out how to open it. Any help would be appreciated. John

You need to remove the trim band (one screw at the back) that exposes 4 screw heads where the top cover joins the gear case. There are 4 screws from the top that retain the planetary assembly. I can't remember if you need to remove the motor to expose all of them. The motor is no big deal to remove.

I have a brand new kitchenaid artisan mixer that i have only used once. I cannot move the speed control lever at all.

Take it back, no point voiding your warranty pulling it apart. You do know you need to put a bit of downwards pressure on that knob when moving it forward and back ??

The planetary housing of my Kitchen Artisan mixer moves up and down. I can move in with my hand and it moves up and down occasionally when mixing. This just started.

Properly having a look to find the cause is going to involve removing the planetary (remove chrome drip ring and knock out the pin) and then removing the back cover. Remove the white and the black wires from the speed control and take the return spring off the bottom of it. Undo the 9 screws holding the gear cases together and separate the 2 halves. You will now be able to inspect the shaft, spacing washer pins and gears on the planetary driving shaft. Normally they have a bit if movement up and down in the planetary (when it is fully assembled) I've never found a fault within the gearbox to cause it or if I have it's been through someone pulling it apart and not assembling it correctly. When I do them I add an extra fibre washer on the outside between the planetary and gearbox housing, there should already be one there, I add another of suitable thickness to remove play but not make it tight.

The planetary is stuck and I cannot remove it from machine. Got pin out ok. kitchenaid KSM5

Remove the chrome drip ring by knocking it downwards with a flat screwdriver and a hammer.....carefully. Then you can get a couple of flat screwdrivers in as levers between the now visible screw heads and the planetary.

Kitchenaid Model KEMS307DWH4. Microwave not operational. Displayed "Door". Now simply beeps to control panel inputs. Oven light never turns on. Any diagnostic tips?

you can try looking at www.elektrotanya.com on google chrome browser. They may or may not have it but it is definitely a door switch. If you take it apart and find the door switch you can ohm them out and they are just a set of micro switches If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/steven_a67ead41eb5fc62a
