Bios setup password
Hi!!
Usually DELL Latitude or Inspiron passwords are storedi n eeprom memories
that has to be read or writen to remove / bypass the BIOS password!!! Password
generate a hash code that will appear after 3 wrong password attempts and it
has a 5 digit decimal format "xxxxx" You can get the hash code by
pressing F2 or F10 when you turn on the laptop to enter Bios and then when
password prompt appears hit F12 to get the hash code. You can generate a unlock code or master password with the service tag "xxxxxxx" 7 digit, this code appears at the password promtp screen or at the bottom of the laptop with a white sticker.
I got Latitude D620 Bios password Unlocked at http://www.laptoprebirth.com
They can calculate a master password with the hash code. Hope
it helps

Where can I download a Toughbook CF-18 Tablet PC
Finding a complete recovery disc is prooving difficult. i have found a couple of alternatives to getting a complete install on disc, but they do take a little bit more time.
if you have a copy of the windows which you wish to run your system on. which nowadays arent hard to comeby, then you can use this link as a driver and compac software restore disk
http://www.user-guides.co.uk/cddownload/Panasonic/PanasonicToughbook/Panasonic-Toughbook-CF-18-XP-Driver-CD-Recovery-Restore-Disk-108878.html
however these downloads / cd'a have to be purchased. i really wouldnt bother with it. drivers and apps for compac arent a must have and usually just do things to make the GUI fancey or easy to use. most drivers will be picked up on windows install and the rest wont be hard to track down. a standard windows install is surfice for most things and runs quicker than an install full of tosh little programs.

Need to disassemble
to remove the keyboard on the cf-18 keyboard you must remove the 4 screwsby the ESC, F4, F10, and PAUSE key. once removed lift the 2 covers and holding the keyboard from Function key sides lift up slowly. There are 4 sticky tapes holding the keyboard, once some of the tapes are off you can slide the keyboard up towards the LCD to remove. The connector to the keyboard can be removed by removing 3 screws from the aluminum center cover found under the keyboard

Trying to give wake on lan to cf-18 like our cf-19s
not that hard, time consuming task.
BIOS, NIC, Power Option, remote user permission.
which require you to be at the machine. Since you can't do BIOS change via remote.
if all machine are similar, it should take you no more than 10 minutes per machine to set up, and test.

Random windows resets
Hi I am Vortash I was wondering if you had done an independent Virus and spy ware scan at all recently .. as this to me sounds like maybe your set has picked up a post box command .. ie that's where you get someone using your computer to send either illegal or fraudulent emails .. you may even have a third party tracker but it really sounds to me like external interference .. if it was the computer I am sure it would flash an error or warning message to tell you what it had just done this sounds suspicious .
If it was mine I would save erything I wanted to a USB pen or External drive and format my drive and re-install windows ..
You do this by placing your windows CD in the drive reboot the system and when it ask's to boot from cd press any key you do so
and it will start the process then just follow the instructions it is actually really easy . when it ask's to save the old windows you say NO and it will erase it .. and when reinstalled don't use the same passwords on anything .. if you have any problems contact me again on here and I will walk you through the process ..I am here everyday at 1 pm onwards GMT . Touch Screen Broken
Hi I am Vortash yes you can but to be honest I wouldst advise it .. touch screens are expensive and very easy to damage especially during installation .. an over fastened screw .. a wire underneath it ... damaged ribbon insert.. it is a job for an expert and don't forget if you have it repaired by a service engineer it will have a warranty for a while ..? The other thing to think about is if it was broken accidentally then it may be covered under a household insurance and you can claim for the repair . Regards Vortash

NUM Lock
I solved this on a toughbook. The numlock was activating while windows started even with the regkey set to have it off.
(
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/154529/en-us)
All I had to do was restarting the PC waiting for windows to activate the numlock again during the shutdown process and then hitting the numlock once before windows was done.
Next time the Toughbook started the Numlock kept off!

Trouble booting!
You could attempt to boot to safe mode, and run the Start> System Recovery > PC Recovery Application.
Otherwise, I'd boot to safe mode, select start, run, type: msconfig, select the startup tab, remove any unwanted startup items that may be causing the system crash.
Hope this helps.
