Vaio pcv-rs410 won't boot from usb

Have you changed the boot order in your bios? Many USB Keys are actually formatted as USB HDD or USB DVD. If you do have the USB device as 1st boot option ensure that the format is FAT32 and the software installed correctly (grub loader or windows boot image). Many sites such as Major Geeks will offer Optical Disc->USB boot conversion tools which make this a much easier process. Goodluck!

Primary slave drive fails

Go into the BIOS and make sure you are trying to boot from the Primary Master Drive first. If not, move the Master Drive to the 1st boot position. If the above fails, you could just remove the power cord, remove the case and notice how the two drives are connected and remember it. There will be one cable that provides power to the drive from the power supply on each drive. Also, there might be one cable that connects both drive, or there might be one in each drive, etc. I would disconnect the power and cable on one of the drives and try rebooting. If it fails and you have one cable that connects both drives, try the other cable connection and reboot. If it still fails, then I would try doing the same thing with the other drive. If all the above fails and your system has the IDE (whereas the cable has about a 2 inch end with about 20 holes that plug into the 20 pins on the hard drive) interface, remove the drive to check and see if the little pin on there along is set to Primary, Master or Cable Select. Normally on a two drive system they will be set to CS for Cable Select and the IDE Cable based on how it is plugged into the drives determines which is Master and Slave, but older systems might have the Master and Slave setup.

Getting error that no sound device is installed..

Always get your drivers from the manufacturer of your Laptop, Notebook or Desktop.

If you were to log on to the sony.com web site, usually one is able to download if available, by model number, All available Driver downloads as required.

If the driver is not available, perhaps your manufacturer does not support the OS you are installing.

This is the best way of ensuring up to date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!

There are no XP drivers to be found with Microsoft as XP is no longer supported.

Some manufacturers may have a limited number of Drivers still listed.

I hope this helps.

My sony computerPCV-RS410 used hitachi hard

You can try getting another set of recovery discs from Sony. Also try resetting the bios. then running the recovery discs again. You can access bios by pressing F2 repeatedly right after you turn on the computer. Then on bottom of screen it will say you could press F5 or another button to load default values. Do that then save and exit. If this does not work. See if you can get a regular windows xp disc and try reinstalling just a normal copy of windows on to the pc. It may not have all the VAIO utilities. But most of them are not needed.

Sony VAIO PCV-RS410 memory maxed @ 1G. Can I

You could, but to be honest you're probably going to spend more money and time than it's worth.

If you're having speed issues, one possible solution is to clear space off your hard drive and run defragmentation. Your hard drive should never be over 80% of its capacity; otherwise the system can't run at peak efficiency.

If the PC still isn't running to your liking, then I'd recommend shopping for a new one.
