My laptop becomes pixelated if I move it. The only way to make it go away is Ctrl Alt Delete.. If that doesnt work then I have to turn it on and off. Any thoughts?

May be there's a problem with your screen. Have it checked. If not the problem is with your hard-disk.

Installed gforce fx 5700 drivers in vgc-v517g and

Hi,
The problem could be caused due to high refresh rate or resolution settings on the video card that are not compatible with the monitor.

Restart the computer and keep tapping on the F8 screen before the windows starts to load. Highlight the option enable VGA mode and hit enter. Your windows would start with defualt settings for the video card. Check if the problem is still there. Otherwise lower the screen resolution and refresh rate according to the monitor you have.

I need to insatll a new memory card in my sony

Sony eSupport>VAIO VGC-V517G>Manuals,

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=VGCV517G

On this page l would like you to left-click on - VAIO User Guide, under the Manuals heading.

A small window will pop up on the left side of the screen. It took almost 30 seconds before I saw the first page. The screen was white in the meantime.
(PDF file is downloading in the background)

In the Bookmarks to the left, scroll down to -
Upgrading and Maintaining Your VAIO Computer, and left-click on the + sign to expand the file.

Left-click on Installing Memory.
(Page 91)

Page 92 has details, and illustrations, on removing the computer back cover.

Barring something prevents you from downloading this PDF file;

1) Computer off, and unplugged from power.

2) Observe Anti-Static precautions

[Anti-Static Precautions:

Your body carries Static electricity.
Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit), the hardware components inside a computer.

Computer unplugged from power, computer on a table, computer case open, TOUCH an unpainted surface of the metal frame.

This will relieve your body of Static.

Should you get up, and walk away in the middle of working on your computer, upon your return Touch the metal frame again ]

3) Disconnect any Peripheral devices connected to your computer.

Advise lay a clean towel on the table.
Gently lay the computer down on the towel, LCD screen face down.

4) Slide the back cover towards the top of the LCD screen.
It will only slide up so far, then the top of the back cover, is tilted towards the back of the computer, and lifted off.
Set the back cover aside.

5) Back of the computer towards you, the Ram Memory Cover is on the Right side.

The cover looks like a panel. It is rectangular shaped. There are two screws holding the cover on. Remove these two screws, lift the Memory Cover off.

The Ram Memory modules are right there.

Need further guidance in removing and installing ram memory modules, state in a Comment.
(Believe upper right of your page is the Comment button)

I have avirus and want to reinstall how do i do

Possible Virus and Malware

Programs that you should load up and run. The first is MalwareBytes Ant-Malware Tool, another is Avast Anti-Virus 4.8, the third is Threatfire. Install these three and let them perform scans.

Run MalwareBytes first and perform a quick scan, when it finishes, it will ask you to post the results, when it does delete everything it finds.
Run Avast and install it, when it asks, go ahead and schedule a pre-boot scan of your entire system. This should get rid of most problems….The third program is Threatfire and it scans every web page on the world wide web. Now, you will have to get rid of Norton because that too may be the root of some of these problems just because of the name. You can get the Norton Removal Tool at the Norton support site. Below are the links to the referenced programs. Good Luck…..

I have a Sony Vaio VGC-V517G but the CD/DVD

A Driver is a small piece of software, that allows the Operating System to 'communicate' with a device.

Windows XP is an example of an Operating System. (O/S)
A typical device?
An Optical drive, (CD/DVD), Mouse, Keyboard, and Graphics card, are a few examples.

This is Sony eSupport, and the Drivers download page, for the Sony Vaio VGC-V517G Notebook PC,

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGC-V517G&region_id=1

Go down to the third file listing -
CD/DVD Drives - 2file(s)

Left-click on the + sign before,
CD/DVD Drives -2file(s)

If your optical drive is the Sony DW-D56A, download the second file listed,
(Sony DW-D56A DVD -+RW Optical Drive Firmware Update Utility)

I also suggest you download the first file listed also.

Download both files. Open one at a time. Open one file, then install the file. Then open the other file, install it.

Go to the right, and left-click on the icon that looks like a blue World, with a green down arrow under it.

On the next page go to the right, and left-click on that same icon again. (Under the - Download Now - heading)

Should you need additional info, or help with the above, come back, and state so in a comment.

Or ,have I understood your problem wrongly? If so state it in a comment. Allow me the chance to give you the right information, before you rate the solution.
