Make sure that what you are cooking is something that can be cooked in a slow cooker. Put all the ingrediants into the pot, plug it in and set it to either Low -This setting is the most used setting. Usually takes 8 hours or so depending on what you are cooking. High -This setting is faster and usually cooks in half the time as Low, but meats aren't as as tender cooked on this setting. Also make sure you put in enough liquid. You usually want the pot filled 2/3 with whatever liquid you are using to cook with.

Steam release value used incorrectly for non-pressure cook settings.

Remove the lid while using Brown/Saut?, or correctly position Steam Release Valve to "Release" while using Slow Cooking or Yogurt, and then unplug the unit for at least 5 seconds, re-plug it in and re-program your cook settings to begin cooking.

You don't have to put water in your slow cooker base since it is heated up by coils hidden in its core and not by hot water. You don't have to put water in your slow cooker base since it is heated up by coils hidden in its core and not by hot water.

Hello Philip. Your slow cooker is from England and the only company I know of that carries parts is this one. Go to this link and you can either order the part or ask the company to locate the part for you. http://www.mastersparesonline.com/

There is plenty of online information - below is a link to the results of a google search.

We have a couple of anodised saucepans and food does stick sometimes, though an overnight soak in water and detergent has never failed to remove the burnt on food without needing to scrape.
Anodising aluminium does produce a slightly porous surface so an alternative finish will adhere better - ceramic, teflon, colour or just a layer of oil to condition the pot. This does mean some foods will slightly stain the pot semi-permanently.
