Hi, you have broken the coupler (sometimes called a coupling). It is relatively cheap and easy to replace. In the UK, K A Parts Limited sell them here and provide removal instructions here.

well theres a couple of things you can do one is to soak the spring and ring in warm water with a dish cloth then take a butter knife and try to pry it up very carefully this usually works the other is to steam it free but that is very time consuming.

You will definitely need to change the clutch blade i.e. the black rubber rotating bit. Chaging it on the base unit may be difficult, I would check with your local Kitcheaid repairer for spare parts and repair advice.

Also check the clutch blade on the jug itself.

try rotating the container part 1/4 of a turn to line up slots and press down . then if it does not blend turn another 1/4 turn to line up slots and press down pushing container into base motor unit .
container and screw on blade lid is put in upside down and the plastic posts have to match the base unit to turn on the blender when you press down on container into base unit.

I own and use a ninja blender !.
